Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lynda Baron played Captain Wrack in "Enlightenment", but her first involvement in "Doctor Who" was way back in the first Doctor's era singing a song. What was it?

Answer: The Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon

The song was sung repeatedly (to the point of annoyance) in "Gunfighters", which was voted one of the worst stories.
2. Which actor did NOT play a dual role in the show?

Answer: Jon Pertwee

Patrick Troughton played both the Doctor and Salamander in "Enemy of the World". Peter Davison was the Doctor and Omega in "Arc of Infinity". Tom Baker was the Doctor and Meglos in "Meglos". Jon Pertwee never did a dual role on his shows.
3. Where did "Koleeda partha menin klatch" come from?

Answer: A Venusian lullaby

The Doctor once said it translated "Close your eyes, my dear. Well, three of them at least".
4. What were the vehicles used by the War Chief and War Lord to transport people to the different war zones?

Answer: SIDRATs

SIDRATs were very similar to TARDISes and were used for the short hops between the different time zones.
5. Which companion did not have an "origin" story?

Answer: Melanie

Melanie's first appearance was shown in a future adventure long after Peri's departure. Sarah met the Doctor in "Time Warrior", Peri met the Doctor in "Planet of Fire", and Ace met the Doctor in "Dragonfire". We never saw Mel actually meet the Doctor.
6. What actor played the Master during Paul McGann's story?

Answer: Eric Roberts

Eric Roberts' girlfriend in real life played the girlfriend that was killed. His sister is the well-known Julia Roberts, a very "pretty woman".
7. What was the song Gwendoline played on the piano in "Ghost Light"?

Answer: "That's The Way To The Zoo"

The song was composed by J.F. Mitchell and was played off camera by Alasdair Nicolson. The words of the main chorus fit the show's underlying theme: "That's the way to the zoo, that's the way to the zoo. The monkey house is nearly full, but there's room enough for you. Take a bus to Regent's Park, make haste before it shuts. For next week I will come and bring you such a bunch of nuts."

Answer: The Beatles

It was footage from a TV appearance in "present" day London. They played "Ticket To Ride".
9. What "terrible" unseen character was mentioned by the second Doctor in "The Five Doctors"?

Answer: Zodin

This character was never seen in the show, the the second Doctor mentioned "the terrible Zodin" while talking to the Brigadier right before the Time Scoop got them.
10. What were the names of the twins in "Twin Dilemma"?

Answer: Romulus and Remus

The twins were played by Gavin and Andrew Conrad. For the program, Gavin's name was changed to Paul as there was already an actor named Gavin Conrad.

Immediately after they left, Queen Victoria ordered the creation of "Torchwood", in part to make sure the Doctor stays out of her country.
12. As of the end of Series 5, who is the oldest companion to travel with the Doctor?

Answer: Romana

Romana is a Time Lady, who commented once she was over 100 years old (I believe it was mentioned in "City Of Death") Wilf would be the oldest human.
13. What color light does the eleventh Doctor's sonic screwdiver emit when in use?

Answer: green

14. Which companion waited fourteen years for the Doctor to take her on the TARDIS?

Answer: Amy Pond

When the Doctor first met Amy (then called Amelia) was when he had just regenerated and crash landed. The TARDIS needed time to repair itself. He had to take a test run to the moon to make sure it was functioning safely. He told her 5 minutes, but ended up twelve years.

He took one more "test run", promising again to be a short time, and took two more years. He then said "the girl who waited" earned a trip.
15. What was the nickname Amy had for her "imaginary friend", the Doctor?

Answer: The Raggedy Doctor

16. In "Victory Of The Daleks", what was Professor Edwin Bracewell's girlfriend's name (according to his memories)?

Answer: Dorabella

After finding out Bracewell was a robot constructed by the Daleks, with a bomb, the Doctor and Amy had him remember his life to help overcome the Dalek control. It was Amy's suggestion to think about Dorabella.
17. Which of these is a weapon used by River Song?

Answer: Hallucinogenic lipstick

The Hallucinogenic lipstick confuses whoever gets kissed by the person wearing it. The Sonic Lipstick was used by Sarah Jane Smith. The Vortex Manipulator was one of the toys of Captain Jack Harkness. The Laser Screwdriver was the Master's weapon.
18. When the Doctor went back to pick up Rory during his bachelor party, how did he arrive?

Answer: He popped out of the cake

After Amy tried to seduce the Doctor, the Doctor decided to show up at Rory's bachelor party and tell him. He then invited both of them on a trip in the TARDIS as a present.
19. What was the message River Song left of the Home Box for the Doctor?

Answer: "Hello Sweetie"

She scorched the message onto the Home Box (which is a lot like a blackbox on a plane) in Old HIgh Gallefreyan, so the Doctor would notice. After that message were coordinates of where she would be flying out of a ship's airlock (and right into the Doctor's TARDIS).
20. What are the names of Amy's parents?

Answer: Augustus & Tabetha

At the end of "The Big Bang", history resets and Amy is back with her parents, who are at her wedding to Rory. Sydney & Verity were the parents of John Smith (based on Verity Lambert and Sydney Newman, who helped start the "Doctor Who" show back in 1963). Wilf is Donna's grandfather and Sylvia is her mother. Pete & Jackie are Rose's parents.
21. When the Doctor first met Amelia, he was craving apples. What food finally satisfied his new mouth?

Answer: fish fingers dipped in custard

When he tried the apple, he hated it. He then tried yoghurt, bacon, beans, and bread and butter. All were horrible to him. Carrot juice was what Mel tried to get the sixth Doctor to drink (which he hated). Jelly Babies were the fourth Doctor's favorite candy, and Chumblies were the candies the first Doctor got a toothache from.
22. In "Planet of the Dead" a psychic named Carmen told the tenth Doctor "your song is ending... he will knock four times". Who was the one that knocked four times, being the one to cause the regeneration process to begin?

Answer: Wilf

After the Doctor's battles with the Master and Rassilon, his weakened body wakes to hear four knocks. It was Wilf, trapped in a box, which would release radiation if opened. The Doctor is able to switch places and absorb the radiation to save Wilf. The Doctor takes Wilf home, then does some last minute duties (including visiting Wilf and Sylia at Donna's wedding).

He regenerates alone in TARDIS.
23. What created the Dream Lord in "Amy's Choice"?

Answer: psychic pollen getting in TARDIS machinery

The psychic pollen got into the ship's machinery, and being linked to the Doctor, it created the Dream Lord. He uses the Doctor's fears and insecurities to taunt the Doctor, Amy and Rory into a game of life and death using dreams.
24. When the Doctor stayed in Craig Owen's place to discover the secret of the upstairs room, he couldn't use any TIme Lord technology. What did he build to scan for time interference?

Answer: Lammersteen Scanner

The Lammersteen Scanner uses non-technological items (such as an umbrella, a rake, a traffic cone, and other odds and ends) to find the spaceship hiding above them, disguised as the second floor of the building.
25. When Amelia went to the museum to see the Pandorica, who did she meet coming out of it?

Answer: Amy

When Amy was wounded, the Doctor put her in the Pandorica to keep her alive. Ameila, Amy, the Doctor (with a fez), Rory and River all battled to help "reboot the universe". The Doctor flew the Pandorica into the exploding TARDIS, causing the power of the Pandorica to "reset" everything.
