After discussing Madonna's public image, Sean Penn became agitated and punched the Church Lady in the nose.

Phil Hartman's Saddam Hussein character appeared the "Church Chat" sketch on the December 1, 1990 episode of "Saturday Night Live". This episode of "Saturday Night Live" was during the Saddam Hussein led Iraq's occupation of Kuwait.

During this Church Chat sketch, the Church Lady and her mother chastised Saddam Hussein before assaulting him. After the assault the Church Lady and her mother performed the Church Lady's trademark "superior dance" over Saddam Hussein prone body.
