Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams completed tasks in and around what B.C. city during the third leg of the race?

Answer: Nelson

To begin the third leg of the race, the remaining eight teams opened clues in Wood Buffalo, Alberta and were told to make their way back into British Columbia, taking a flight from the nearby city of Fort McMurray and landing in the Kootenay Region in Castlegar. Teams were told to locate their vehicles for this leg of the race-- a series of Chevrolet Bolt EVs-- and for this leg, they would be told to measure their efficiency with the regenerative braking feature. Whichever team was the most efficient would win a $5,000 reward at the Pit Stop.
2. In Leg 3 in British Columbia, teams needed to deliver which of these?

Answer: Coffee

Hopping into their vehicles, the teams made their way to Zuckerberg Island on the Columbia River and there they were given a detail-oriented task sponsored by Woods camping equipment. For this task, teams had to travel on foot around nine different campsites, and using a single example campsite containing eighteen different items, they needed to identify the differences found in each similar site. Each site would only have one item out of order in some way. Once this was done, teams drove to Nelson to visit the Oso Negro Coffee Roastery, and after delivering two blends on foot to local destinations, they could continue on with the race. Karen and Bert, behind after the Woods task, elected to use their Express Pass on the coffee delivery.
3. How many people swung off the big orange bridge in the Leg 3 Road Block (in B.C.)?

Answer: Eight

After delivering their coffee, teams needed to pick one member to 'hang with Bob'. For this task, the selected participant needed to head to the big orange bridge on the Kootenay River and perform a rope swing into the water to reach a big orange buoy with their clues sealed on top.

Then, they had to swim back to shore to reunite with their partner and continue on with the race. The task was done by Bert, Zed, Andrea, Sam, Ivana, Ryan, Andrea, and Megan.
4. Teams completing the 'Strike It' Detour task in B.C. in Leg 3 were told take up which of these?

Answer: Blacksmithing

After the Detour, teams were required to drive to Selkirk College to select a challenge devised for artisans. 'Strike It' sent teams to a metalsmithing class to bend and shape metal rods into coathooks; two coathooks resulted in a clue. 'Throw It' asked teams to take up pottery, sitting behind the wheel and spinning out two suitable cups to the approval of an instructor to obtain their next clue. 'Strike It' was done by Sam and Paul while 'Throw It' was completed by Zed and Shabbir, Andrea and Ebonie, Adam and Andrea, Korey and Ivana, and Megan and Courtney. Kenneth and Ryan used the Express Pass to bypass the Detour altogether.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in British Columbia in Leg 3?

Answer: Megan and Courtney

After the Detour, teams needed to drive themselves to Kokanee Creek Provincial Park, north of Nelson, and then search the beach for their third Pit Stop on the shores of Kootenay Lake. First place ended up going to son and dad Zed and Shabbir who ended up taking with them a trip for two to Chicago, Illinois.

By the end of the leg, all three Express Passes ended up out of play with Karen and Bert and Kenneth and Ryan using theirs to skip the second Route Info and Detour tasks respectively (with the latter winning the $5,000 energy award) and Megan and Courtney coming in last without using theirs.

They were eliminated in eighth place.
6. In Leg 4, teams flew to what international city?

Answer: Beijing

Leg 4 began with a whirlwind of travel. Heading out from Nelson, B.C., teams flew from Castlegar to Vancouver, B.C. to visit Sinorama Tours in Richmond. There, picking up a travel package, they were told they would be going to Beijing, China and that their first task would be at the Juyong Pass on the Great Wall of China. Once there, thousands of kilometers away, teams needed to dress as tour guides and perform a tour of that portion of the Great Wall in English, French, and Mandarin to receive their next clue.
7. At a Canadian Embassy in Leg 4, teams encountered people playing which sport?

Answer: Hockey

Following their impromptu tour of the Great Wall, teams needed to hop back into taxis and make their way back into Beijing proper. Their next stop would be the Canadian Embassy where they would need to interrupt a ball hockey game played by Canadian visitors and locals, drop the next ball in a face-off, and collect their next clue. Teams then needed to travel to one of two destinations for their Detour task.
8. During the Detour in Leg 4, teams were either able to dance or perform which other task to receive their next clue?

Answer: Dive

Visiting the Canadian Embassy, teams were told to head to the Ying Tung Natatorium in the Beijing Olympic Sports Center to participate in one of two precision-based tasks. In 'In Sync', teams suited up into Speedos and worked to perform a synchronized dive from the five meter board. If they received a total 20 score from the three judges, they could get their clue.

In 'In Line', teams had to head outside and learn a flash mob line dance to claim their next clue. Zed and Shabbir, Sam and Paul, and Kenneth and Ryan completed 'In Sync' while Adam and Andrea, Karen and Bert, Andrea and Ebonie, and Korey and Ivana completed 'In Line'.
9. During the Road Block in Leg 4, team members fulfilled herbal prescriptions, accumulating how many ingredients to get their next clue?

Answer: Three

After the Detour, teams were led to Ren Yi Tang for their next task, and upon arrival they found a route marker waiting outside an herbal pharmacy. In this task, team members 'played doctor', searching through over eight hundred drawers in the apothecary shop to locate three containing ingredients they needed for a traditional recipe. Using only the Chinese characters provided they needed to locate and weigh out what they needed to the pharmacist's specifications to get their next clue. Shabbir, Kenneth, Sam, Adam, Ebonie, Karen, and Korey participated in this task.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 4, but told to keep on racing?

Answer: Andrea and Ebonie

In the end of Leg 4, teams headed out from their Road Block and were told to meet Jon at their next Pit Stop in the square next to the Drum Tower. Sam and Paul won their first leg of the race, arriving ahead of everyone else after overtaking teams at the Road Block.

The two of them won a trip back to China courtesy of Sinorama Travel. After a long and arduous leg, Ebonie's performance at the Road Block knocked her and Andrea to last place, but when they stepped on the mat, Jon gave them their next clue and told them to keep on racing, sparing them from both a Speed Bump task and elimination.
