Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I provide only one voice on the show, and that is the voice of one of the Simpsons. Who am I?

Answer: Yeardley Smith

Yeardley Smith provides the voice of Lisa Simpson, and only Lisa. Also, she is a very rare thing in cartoon voicing, as her voice does not need to be altered during the editing process. The voices of Homer, Marge, Bart, and all others are edited to great lengths to sound the way they do, but Yeardley Smith's real voice closely resembles that of Lisa Simpson!
2. Many fans know that Bart Simpson's voice is done by a female. But is it true that this woman originally auditioned for the voice of Marge Simpson?

Answer: No

Actually, Nancy Cartwright, who provides Bart Simpson's voice, initially auditioned for the voice of Lisa Simpson. During final preparations, while reading a script, she realized she could do Bart Simpson's voice, so she stuck with that!
3. I've provided literally hundreds of different voices on "The Simpsons", including Moe, Chief Wiggum, Apu, and many others... but I've also done many other things, like starring in the early 90s sitcom "Herman's Head", as well as making numerous appearances on "Friends" as Phoebe's love interest, David.

Answer: Hank Azaria

Hank Azaria also starred in 1996's "The Birdcage" with Robin Williams, and 1999's "Mystery Men" with Ben Stiller. He was also on "Mad About You" for over a season as Nathaniel 'Nat' Ostertag.
4. I provide one of the most popular voices on "The Simpsons". I also appeared on a season two episode of "Friends", as a zookeeper who informs Ross that his pet monkey is still alive.

Answer: Dan Castellaneta

Dan Castellaneta provides the voice of Homer Simpson, as well as many others like Abraham Simpson, Krusty the Klown, Hans Moleman, and many others.
5. This man provided the voice of Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz, and others alike until 1998. Unfortunately, his life was cut short due to homicide. He was also one of the stars of "Newsradio", a 90s TV sitcom. Who am I referring to?

Answer: Phil Hartman

Phil Hartman died tragically on May 28th, 1998 in his Encino, California home. He was shot by his wife, Brynn Hartman, who then shot herself later that morning.
6. I provide the voices of Jimbo Jones, Agnes Skinner, and others, but I have also done voice spots in a countless amount of other shows, including "Animanics", "Pinky and the Brain", and "Futurama". I also did the lead voice in "Tiny Toon Adventures" as Babs Bunny!

Answer: Tress MacNeille

Tress MacNeille has provided voices for television cartoons, made-for-video animated movies, as well as video games. She has appeared in multiple "Land Before Time" movies, as well as multiple "Rugrats" features as Charlotte Pickles.
7. I left the show in 1999 because FOX refused my requested raise increase. The show decided to kill off the character whose voice I provided most frequently, even though I returned to the show in 2002.

Answer: Maggie Roswell

Maggie Roswell voiced Maude Flanders until her departure, so the producers killed her character in the season eleven episode "Alone Again, Natura-Diddly". Her other voices, including Helen Lovejoy, were done by Marcia Mitzman during her 3-year absence, but never sounded quite the same.
8. After Robin Williams played the voice of the genie in the original "Aladdin" movie, I took over this voice for most related features that followed.

Dan Castellaneta, who provides the voice of Homer and many others, has done the voice of the genie for numerous sources, including the "Aladdin" television series, which lasted three years and 86 episodes.
9. 1984 brought one of history's most famous rock and roll movies, "This Is Spinal Tap". A lot of fans know me as the voice actor who provides voices like Montgomery Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, and so much more... but did you know I played Derek Smalls in that highly acclaimed movie? Well I did! So, uh... who am I?

Answer: Harry Shearer

10. I provide the voice of a criminal mastermind, but I'm also a radio psychiatrist elsewhere. My voice is the exact same in both roles, and I am a very well known actor.

Answer: Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer has provided the voice of "Sideshow Bob" many times throughout the run of the show, and like very few others, his voice did not need to be digitally altered to fit his character. Well, that's it! Hopefully this has taught you a little bit about those wonderful people who keep the show together. Without them, "The Simpsons" would not exist. Thanks for playing!
