Stuart Bloom is meek-mannered and kind-hearted. Little has been told about Stuart's life before owning the comic book store, but it was revealed that Stuart's uncle is Stan Lee's dermatologist and was able to arrange a special signing session at the store. (season 3) Stuart's parents have been mentioned as well; his mom used to call him her "little possum" (season 7), and his dad called on Stuart's birthday (season 8).

Stuart went to the Rhode Island School of Design, and that is really the only hint that has been given about his life before meeting the "Big Bang Theory" group of friends. In "The Hofstadter Isotope" (season 2), Stuart drew a picture of Penny, who was looking for a comic book for her nephew, charming her with his talent and humor.

After Leonard introduced the two, Stuart replied with, "Oh, really? Blink twice if you're here against your will".

Answer: Comic Center of Pasadena

The Comic Center of Pasadena is one of the favorite hangout places of the "Big Bang Theory" group. In fact, when Penny and Leonard were arguing (season 3), Sheldon went there to avoid the squabbling. Stuart does know the owner of Capital Comics, who has not been kind to him. Nevertheless, when Bernadette needed to replace one of Howard's comics that Stuart doesn't have, he took her to the rival store.

He wasn't happy, however, to see Captain Sweatpants, one of his regular customers, there. At the end of season 7, the comic book store burned, and viewers were assured that the fire was accidental and not started for the insurance money.

Answer: Penny and Amy

When Stuart first appeared on the "Big Bang Theory" in season 2, he fell in love with Penny (without knowing how Leonard felt about her), and even dated her a couple of times. Sheldon essentially ruined the end of the date by debating who would replace Batman if he should die. ("Oh, Sheldon, I'm afraid you couldn't be more wrong".) During the debate, Penny fell asleep.

At the end of the second date with Penny, she made a mistake and called Stuart "Leonard". In typical Stuart fashion, he understood and stepped aside. Stuart's date with Amy (season 5) helped to push Sheldon into admitting that Amy was, in fact, his girlfriend; once again Stuart understood and stepped aside.

Answer: Wil Wheaton

Stuart's comic book shop hosted a card game tournament (season 3), during which Stuart partnered with Wil Wheaton. This was when it was revealed that Sheldon harbored ill feelings against Wil. Apparently, when Sheldon was a young fan, Wil failed to make an appearance at a convention; when confronted at the tournament, Wil lied and told Sheldon that his grandmother had died. Out of sympathy, Sheldon let Wil and Stuart win - only to find out that Wil had lied.

Answer: Depressed and broke

Stuart's job requires that he work many hours a week; he is overworked and very underpaid. Because he doesn't have the opportunity to get out much, he is often depressed and, at times, has relied on the kindness of his friends to help him out of a financial bind.

In season 5's "The Friendship Contraction", Stuart told Sheldon that his therapist had committed suicide and blamed Stuart in the note.

In this episode, Sheldon was upset about the change in group dynamics that was caused by Leonard dating Raj's sister, Priya. In an attempt to replace his friends, he invited Barry Kripke from work, Zach Johnson, Penny's old boyfriend, television star LeVar Burton, and Stuart to his apartment for a party. Stuart revealed that he had been living at the comic book store and taking showers in a nearby car wash.

While Sheldon's "new friends" weren't interested in playing video games, they do enjoy karaoke. Stuart's joined in on "Walking On Sunshine" after finishing his shower.

Answer: He became a companion for Raj while Howard was in space.

In many ways, Raj and Stuart are alike. They both appear to have problems with female relationships, and work together on their on-line dating profiles. Their friendship is very much like Raj's and Howard's, and at times borders on the questionable and very inappropriate.

For example, at one point (season 6), while planning a party at the comic store for all those who would be lonely on Valentine Day's, Raj wished that Stuart was a woman because, "You know, you and I have so much fun hanging out. If you were a girl, all our problems would be solved". What?

Answer: Taking care of Mrs. Wolowitz

Mrs. Wolowitz, Howard's mother, needed around the clock care, and Howard and Bernadette were having trouble keeping help. Stuart needed a job and a place to stay (he had been living at the store), and out of desperation, Howard offered Stuart the job. Stuart was still living at "Debbie's" at the beginning of season 8, and Howard was feeling resentful because of the bond the two obviously shared. Mrs. Wolowitz gave Stuart money that he needed to reopen his store, and also some of her old den furniture.

Answer: Kevin Sussman

Kevin Sussman has a long list of television acting credits that include the recurring role, "Walter", on "Ugly Betty", two episodes on "My Name Is Earl", and three episodes of "Weeds". While he was promoted to a "Big Bang Theory" series regular at the beginning of season 6, he was demoted back to recurring status later in the season.

At the beginning of season 8, his main cast status was restored.
