Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who hosted "Scrabble"?

Answer: Chuck Woolery

Chuck Woolery (of Game Show Network's "Lingo") hosted "Scrabble." Trebek has done "Jeopardy!" and "Classic Concentration." Cullen did many game shows, such as "The Joker's Wild," "Blockbusters," and many others. Pat Sajak is famous for "Wheel Of Fortune."
2. How many colored bonus squares were in the game?

Answer: 2

In the TV version, only pink and blue squares were worth extra money.
3. How many seconds was a penalty for buzzing in the bonus round with an incorrect response?

Answer: 10

Ten seconds were added to the clock with an incorrect response. Ten seconds was also the time limit for the Super Bonus Round. Five seconds was the penalty for not answering.
4. How many words were contestants given in the Super Bonus Round?

Answer: 2

Two words in ten seconds is quite difficult, but it can be done.
5. How many words did a contestant need to get correct in the game?

Answer: 3

There were lights under the contestant's podium that told how many words they had correct. There were only 1, 2, and 3 lights there, so a contestant had to get three words right in order to win.
6. How many "extra" tiles were there in a word?

Answer: 3

As in baseball, when there were three "stoppers," the word was over. The way to decide who wins the word was a "speed word" toss-up.
7. How many contestants played on "Scrabble" a day?

Answer: 4

Two sets of two players played. In the first set of two, the champion from the previous day was one of the contestants.
8. How many words were given in the bonus round?

Answer: 4

There were four words given, each getting slightly longer, and the winner of the bonus round won the game. The way to win was to guess the words in the shortest time.
9. Who was the announcer of "Scrabble"?

Answer: Charlie Tuna

The announcer of "Scrabble" was Charlie Tuna, but not the tuna from the old "Star-Kist" commercials.
10. How much was a blue square worth in bonus money?

Pink squares were worth $1,000, and blue squares only $500.
