Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who discovered that the President had been shot?

Answer: Ron Butterfield

Ron Butterfield is the special agent in charge of the President's Secret Service detail. He is with the President in the car after they have sped away from the scene of the shooting at Roslyn.
2. Who asks CJ to come onboard the first "Bartlet for America" campaign?

Answer: Toby

Toby goes to California to ask CJ in person to join the campaign as the press secretary. She had just lost her job as a public relations consultant in Hollywood.
3. What is a man in New Hampsire running for in an election that has caught the eye of the President in the second season episode "The Midterms?"

Answer: School board

Apparently, President Bartlet had beaten this particular candidate in one of his previous elections, many years prior.
4. What happens to the leader of the African country when he returns home in the second season episode "In This Whitehouse?"

Answer: executed in the airport parking lot

President Bartlet, Josh, and Toby all seem to highly respect the President. President Bartlet is especially won over when he mentions Dr. Norman Bourlag, known for developing a new type of wheat that is easier to grow.
5. Who initially disaggrees with Lionel Tribbey about the particulars of a Gilbert & Sullivan play?

Answer: Ainsley Hayes

Ainsley Hayes is hired by Leo as the Associate White House Counsel. Lionel Tribbey, the Head White House Counsel, is not too happy with that, since Ms. Hayes is a Republican. In their first professional discussion, there is a misunderstanding about whether a song is from "HMS Pinafore" or "Pirates of Penzance." Sam later tells Lionel that Ainsley was correct and that he should know as he was the recording secretary for the Princeton Gilbert & Sullivan Society in college.
6. What does Donna lobby for the White House to back legislation for by getting the assistants to type slower?

Answer: repetitive stress injuries

Donna relates the perils of carpel tunnel syndrome, one of the many injuries that fall under RSI, to Josh and tells him that people with the syndrome can loose the ability to pinch. He mocks her for that, and then she pinches his ear...hard!
7. What is Donna wearing during the season two episode "The Portland Trip?"

Answer: a red evening dress

Josh and Leo both question if that was what she had been wearing earlier in the day, and she comments that "nothing gets past them."
8. What country have the Christian pilgrims come from in the season two episode "Shibboleth?"

Answer: China

"Shibboleth" was a secret password that was used by Christians in biblical times. The delegate from the Chinese pilgrims that visits with President Bartlet in the Oval Office ironically uses the exact word in his speech about faith.
9. What is the term "philately" used to describe?

Answer: Stamp collecting

Josh and Donna are discussing the pros and cons of putting a former Puerto Rican on a stamp, and Josh jokingly says that they ought to put Donna on a stamp.
10. In which season two episode is Josh's post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosed?

Answer: "Noel"

Although Josh had been showing signs of latent hostility in prior episodes, he doesn't meet with Stanley Keyworth, a psychiatrist from the American Trauma Victims Association (ATVA) until "Noel."
