The Window's Always Open ("Career Day" and "Home") Quiz

Not only is the title of the episode Career Day, but all of the parents sharing their jobs is the first thing shown.

All of the students in Topanga and Cory's class think that Topanga's dad is so cool. He even makes intruments for the players in the major rock bands! How cool is that?! Cory's father was the grocer, and Shawn's father made up stories. Not that all of the kids in class knew he made up stories as for what his career really was.

Answer: "Shawn, what does your father do?"

Shawn responds, "Shh! I'm trying to find out!" It is a comical scene.

Answer: Eric doesn't notice a bowl of soup that fell on his lap

At first I thought it was ice cream, but Jason points out to Eric that his "bowl of soup is" on his lap. They are sitting and eating in the school cafeteria.

Answer: the cantaloupe

Shawn responds, "Well, yeah, that part was bad. But it really wasn't that bad! It's all in your head!" Not long after that, some kid at another lunch table in the cafeteria says, as he's eating a cantaloupe, "Look! I'm eating your dad's friend!" Poor Cory!

Answer: Mr. Feeny

Chet is arguing with Mr. Feeny. Mr Fenny is telling him that, "If you're not a member of this faculty, you have no business on these grounds!" Chet comes back with, "I'm Mr. Feeny! I'm principal of this here school!"

Answer: She took their home with her

Chet asks Shawn if he kissed his mother this morning. Shawn says, "Yeah..." and Chet says, "Good. It's gonna have to last you a while." Turns out Shawn's mother had drove their trailer away. As Chet puts is, "One problem with having a mobile home is, well, it moves!"

Answer: the motel down on 7th

When Shawn stops by Mr. Turner's apartment for no real reason, Mr. Turner starts to worry about him. Shawn mentions that his father "gave him some money." He's "staying at the motel." Mr. Turner is shocked! "The one down on 7th!" he says. "Yeah, that's the one," Shawn replies. "Are you going to be okay there?" asks the concerned Mr. Turner. "Yeah," Shawn says in a very "of course, what's the big deal" kind of way. "The guy in the cage gave me clean sheets and everything," Shawn adds.

Answer: a frightening man

Mr. Feeny responds to Jonathan Turner's statement with, "A frightening man, isn't he?"

Answer: the Matthews'

At the end of this episode, Shawn ends up at the Matthews'. Shawn and Cory are excited about finding out what it'll be like to be roomates. Alan seemed reluctant about letting Shawn stay at his house. "You'll be back in a few weeks, right?" he frantically yells after Chet. Chet assures Alan he will come back.

After Chet leaves, Mr. Turner, still in the room, tells Alan that, "Chet was right about one thing. You're a good man."

Answer: Breathe his "lucky air" and use his "lucky towel"

The first mention of Eric's "lucky" items occurs when Eric can't find his "lucky pencil". Shawn, however, was still in the bathroom (shaving- wow!). Cory points out that the pencil is still on Eric's desk. Than Eric freaks out when Shawn uses his "lucky towel". Eric screams at Shawn, "What?! That's my lucky towel! Are you insane?!" Shawn replies, "One of us is." A little bit later, when Shawn comes downstairs, he says, "Sorry, Eric, for breathing your "lucky air"!"

Answer: "No thanks. I'll help myself."

Then Shawn opens the refrigerator, and pulls out a half gallon carton of milk. Amy reaches for a blue mug, but Shawn has already started gulping down the milk- straight from the carton! As Shawn's father, Chet, always says, "The cup? Who ya tryin' to impress?"

Answer: Write an S on a carton Shawn had directly drank from

Amy did end up buying Shawn new clothes, but she never attempted to hide them in the refrigerator. In one episode, Morgan does make a sandwich using Fruit Loops, but not in this one- and anyway, who stores cereal in a refrigerator? It is funny when Shawn drinks out of the carton, much to Amy and Alan's dismay.

She then opens the fridge with a marker in hand saying, "Now Shawn, this is your carton..." and puts a capital S on it. The viewer then notices many other various jugs of drinks (such as orange juice) with large black S's on them.

Answer: Patches up his old pair of jeans that is full of holes

There is actually a "goof" in this part of the episode. Amy says she bought Shawn two new clothes items, when really she only bought one of them- the sweatshirt. The pants were patched. Shawn was, in a way, heartbroken when he found this out.

Answer: Rips off the sleeves and the zipper

When Cory sees this, while in school, he tells Shawn that Amy won't be happy about him doing that. Shawn realizes this, and also realizes that she is only trying to help him, but points out that he doesn't agree with Amy's style of helping out.

Answer: The police had found him with a bunch of losers who were carrying spray paint

Shawn did set off a cherry bomb in season one, but in this episode Shawn was found outside the school with a bunch of "losers". The "losers" were carrying spray paint. Shawn had claimed to be staying with Mr. Turner because his parents were out of town.

Answer: Shawn's parents were out of town because they were saving a little girl who had fallen down a blowhole

Shawn's mother had "run away", or as some would say, "walked out" on Shawn and his father. Chet (Shawn's father) had left town to go and find her, casting Shawn away to stay at the Matthews'. Shawn had, in fact, "run away" from the Matthews' himself that night.

He had left through the window in Cory's bedroom. He pretended to be staying with Mr. Turner. He even made up a completely unbelievable story about his parents so that the police officer would believe that he was a good kid. Jonathan Turner notices the extreme falseness of his story immediately, and can't believe Shawn would expect a police officer to believe that.

Answer: I just did

Alan then replies, "What do you mean?" Chet says, "I mean that if I know my son at all, then I know that when adults are having a private converstion, he's usually right there behind them, listening." Then you see Shawn on the kitchen steps, and he says, "Fine, then! I don't need you! I don't need anybody!" and runs away up the stairs.

Answer: Alan and Amy

Alan and Amy Matthews (Cory's mom and dad) run upstairs after Shawn. Mr. Turner starts to follow, as he was also standing in the kitchen when the phone rang, but then his common sense caught up to him and Jonathan ran outside to catch Shawn jumping out of the window. He caught him just in time, too.

Answer: A more permanent place to stay

Mr. Feeny was worried about Mr. Turner giving his home number out to students, and Cory had compared Shawn to a stray dog earlier in the episode, but the real answer was a place to live. Mr. Turner promised he wouldn't get tired of Shawn after three weeks and kick him out.
