Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After Ryan tragically died and Paulina chose to stay with her current husband Joe Carlino, Jake realized the woman he truly loved with Vicky. She was less than receptive to this news, due to her still grieving over Ryan and the arrival of a mysterious handyman, Bobby Reno, who was fixing her house. Bobby was harboring a big secret. What was it?

Answer: his real name was Shane and he was on the run

Bobby Reno was an alias that Shane Roberts was using. He had been convicted of murder, but was actually innocent. Rather than stay and fight or reveal the real killer, Shane fled. Jake and Vicky teamed up and proved Shane's innocence.
2. Vicky soon realized she loved Jake and wanted to be with him. They tried to get married in September of 1997, but the wedding was postponed. What happened?

Answer: Kirkland got hit by a car

Paulina, who was Vicky's matron of honor, hit Kirkland with her car on her way to pick up Vicky and her boys for the wedding. Kirkland was rushed to the hospital, where he had surgery and then developed a life-threatening infection before he pulled through. Jake was by Vicky's side throughout the ordeal.
3. Jake and Vicky finally got married in November of 1997. Paulina was the Matron of Honor, but who was Jake's Best Man?

Answer: Chris Madison

Chris was Jake's best male friend, so of course Jake asked Chris to stand up for him.
There were a few tense moments during the day. Vicky was temporarily stranded on Shane's boat, where she went to tell him that they were finished and she was marrying Jake. While she was gone Marley, who came to town for the wedding, was forced to pretend to be Vicky a few times. Then during the wedding, Shane walked down the aisle and asked Vicky not to go through with it. She refused and said her I do's to Jake.
4. A terrible car crash during a snowstorm in February of 1998 claimed the lives of Shane and Michael Hudson, Vicky and Marley's father. Shane's vengeful ex-wife, Lila, managed to get Jake arrested for negligible homicide. However, that was not her real objective. What was she really after?

Answer: she wanted to get Vicky to admit she had been with Shane the night of the accident

Vicky had gone to see Shane that night, presumably because she was helping him with his research, but everyone knew she went there to see him. Although tempted, she never slept with Shane. While Shane was driving her back to her car, he ran into Michael, who was heading over to stop Vicky from destroying her marriage. Vicky was somehow thrown from the car and uninjured (remember, it's a soap) while Shane and Michael died. Donna found Vicky after the accident and forced her to keep her presence a secret. Lila suspected Vicky was there, but wasn't able to prove it. So, she got Jake arrested, knowing that the only way Vicky could save Jake was to verify Jake's story that he warned Shane about the icy roads. Vicky did, saving Jake but admitting she was with Shane and nearly destroying her marriage.
5. Marley came back to Bay City in the spring of 1998 to help her sister. Jensen Buchanan briefly played Marley, but who eventually took over and played Marley for the rest of the show?

Answer: Ellen Wheeler

The producers wanted to bring Marley back, but Buchanan wasn't interested in playing both characters full time. So, she played Marley briefly while Marley was in the hospital after a car accident. During that time, a fire broke out and Marley's face was badly burned, requiring surgery.

This allowed an explanation as to why the twins would no longer be identical. After the surgery, Wheeler took over as Marley. Of course, it didn't explain the height difference between the two actresses or why Marley came into the hospital with short hair and left with long hair, but again, it's a soap.
6. Jake and Vicky finally got back together and were happy, which didn't sit well with Marley, who became fixated on her ex-husband and wanted him back. Which of the following stunts did Marley NOT do in an attempt to split the McKinnons up?

Answer: pulled a fire alarm while Jake and Vicky were staying at a hotel trying to make a baby

Marley had Cindy talk into a tape recorder about her feelings for Grant, then edited it to play on Jake and Vicky's answering machine, which made them think Cindy hated Vicky and was after her. When Marley found out Jake and Vicky were going to France to try to make a baby, she stopped that with the potato. Finally, when Vicky confronted Marley about her going after Jake, Marley admitted that Donna was the one driving the car that hit Marley (everyone thought it was Cindy) because she thought Marley was Vicky. Donna was still mad at Vicky about Shane and didn't have any problem running down her daughter, even if it was the wrong one.

It was because of that accident that Marley was in the hospital when the fire broke out. The fire alarm never happened.
7. Marley kidnapped Vicky and stashed her in her basement in a final attempt to get Jake. As a result, Vicky missed a special celebration of hers and Jake's. What was it?

Answer: their first wedding anniversary

Marley hoped that with Vicky out of the picture, Jake would finally fall in love with her. Not only did it not work, but Jake soon figured out Marley was responsible for Vicky's disappearance. Jake eventually rescued Vicky, but only after she had missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and their anniversary.
8. Vicky and Grant's stormy relationship came to a head in March of 1999 when Grant kidnapped their son and told Vicky he was leaving the country. In an attempt to stop him, Vicky hit him over the head with a statue, thinking she had killed him. In truth, she only knocked him out. While he lay on the floor alone, Grant came to and was confronted by someone else, who eventually killed him. Several people confessed, several more were arrested, including Vicky, but only one person went on trial. Who was it?

Answer: Paulina

Everyone was gunning for Grant at the time of his death, but Paulina's confession was the only one that led to a trial. However, as we've learned about soaps, the person on trial is never the guilty person, and this time was no exception. Paulina's husband, Joe, was able to prove that Paulina was covering for her teenage son Tito, whom she had witnessed kill Grant. Joe also proved that Tito was not really Paulina's son and that he had been conning her. Paulina admitted to what she had seen and was released; Tito was arrested.
9. For a while, the McKinnon home seemed like a boarding house. Aside from Jake, Vicky, and her boys, Donna was also staying with them after an accident left her partially paralyzed (she eventually recovered). Then Marley was released from a mental hospital (where she went after being busted for kidnapping Vicky) and Vicky decided to let her stay with them, which prompted Jake to move out. While he was gone, a young man named Sean showed up, hoping to stay at the McKinnon house. Who was Sean?

Answer: Jake's nephew

Sean's father, Kevin, was Jake's brother. However, Kevin was in prison and Sean's mother had recently died, so Kevin had pointed Sean in Jake's direction, hoping Jake was take him in. However, he showed up after Jake had moved out, and Vicky thought Jake had sent Sean over as payback for her taking Marley in without consulting Jake, so she sent Sean away. Once Jake confirmed that Sean was his nephew, he and Vicky tried to find him. Sean eventually found his way back to the house, where he was welcomed, and Jake decided to move back home.
10. When it was announced in April of 1999 that "Another World" was cancelled, the producers gave all the characters a happy ending. What was Jake and Vicky's happy ending?

Answer: Vicky became pregnant with twins

Jake and Vicky were hoping to have a child of their own, so what better way to end the show then to have Vicky get pregnant with not one child, but two?

Thank you for playing. I hope you enjoyed reliving Jake and Vicky's story. Hope you tune in to Soap Net!
