Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Our first artifact that we must find is a typewriter that belonged to a 20th century American poetess. The typewriter has the power to suck the will to live out of anyone who gets near it. Whose typewriter almost drains the life out of Agent Pete Lattimer?

Answer: Sylvia Plath

Pete encounters Sylvia Plath's typewriter in the Dark Vault of Warehouse 13. The Dark Vault is where the secret service keeps artifacts deemed too dangerous for normal storage.
2. Another special artifact we must find was a musical instrument that belonged to the ever-cool Miles Davis. His instrument could hypnotize large audiences. What type of instrument was it?

Answer: trumpet

With the help of Agents Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering, we were able to find Miles' first trumpet. It is now safely stored in the Dark Vault.
3. Our next search takes us to find a mirror that belonged to a famous 19th century British author. The mirror has the ability to entrap a dark spirit, in this case, Alice Liddell. When mishandled, the trapped spirit can trade places with whoever is looking in the mirror. Who was the original owner of this mirror?

Answer: Lewis Carroll

Due to a freak accident at Warehouse 13, Myka's soul becomes trapped in the mirror, releasing Alice (a real-life friend of Lewis Carroll) into the 21st century. Of course, Agent Artie Nielsen finds a way to fix everything and returns Alice's soul to the mirror thereby freeing Myka. Artie then decides it's best to move the mirror into the Dark Vault.
4. The next artifact Artie wants us to secure was used to help Alice escape from the mirror. It is a disco ball that emits energy and feelings that were captured in it while it was used in a famous 1970s and 1980s Manhattan dance club. Can you guess this disco ball's previous home?

Answer: Studio 54

Studio 54, and its co-owner Steve Rubell, were notorious for being the centerpieces of embezzlement and drug scandals, one even involving a White House figure. Back at Warehouse 13, the disco ball provides the light and energy needed for Alice to trade places with Myka.
5. Artie sends us in search of another artifact. It is a special quill pen that can make whatever is written with it come to life. What macabre 19th century American poet, and West Pointer, was the original owner of the quill?

Answer: Edgar Allan Poe

After we recover the quill pen, James MacPherson, a former Warehouse 13 agent, shows up and threatens to kill Myka's parents. He takes the pen from us and leaves, but we have a feeling we'll be seeing more of him later.
6. Our next task is to find a thimble that was used by a famous American abolitionist. The thimble has the power to make the wearer appear as whoever they wish, which could come in quite handy for slaves escaping the south through the Underground Railroad. Who originally owned this thimble?

Answer: Harriet Tubman

In the wrong hands, the thimble could prove quite disastrous. In fact, MacPherson uses it on numerous occasions, and gets Warehouse intern Leena to use it to gain access to certain sections of the warehouse.
7. The next artifact we have to deal with is actually in Artie's possession. He gives it to us and asks us to place it in the Dark Vault. It is a charm that can either protect someone from fire or resurrect them from their own ashes, but with a nasty side-effect of killing someone nearby. What mythical creature has given its name to this powerful charm?

Answer: phoenix

The basis for the name comes from the phoenix, which is reborn from its own ashes. Artie uses the phoenix charm to save himself from an explosion directed at him by MacPherson. This causes his boss's (Mrs. Frederick's) driver to spontaneously combust.
8. This next artifact almost kills Artie. It is a samurai sword forged so perfectly that it can bend light, thereby making the wielder invisible. What famous swordsmith from the Tokugawa shogunate is said to have made this blade?

Answer: Masamune

After MacPherson uses the sword to decapitate Officer Ogawa, he runs it through Artie then flees. Thankfully, the wound is not fatal.

As for the other choices, Hanzo is the character from "Kill Bill" that made the special swords. Ken Onion is a knife designer for the Shun brand of kitchen cutlery, and Wusthof is a German manufacturer of kitchen cutlery.
9. This next artifact Artie sends us to find used to be part of his traveling emergency kit. It is a lightning rod that can boost the energy of anything attached to it. What famous American statesman and inventor created this artifact?

Answer: Benjamin Franklin

After we recover the rod, Artie puts it back into his emergency kit. He later uses it to help a student, Claudia, find her brother. After the incident, Artie offers Claudia an intern job at the Warehouse.
10. Another artifact seems to have been taken from the Warehouse. It is a lantern designed to light up if the United States is ever in danger: one flame for a land attack, two for a sea attack. Which legendary horse-rider did this lantern belong to?

Answer: Paul Revere

Based on "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere," the lantern is kept at Warehouse 13 to alert the agents of impending danger to the US. What do you think it would do for an attack by air?
