The water from his bed short-circuited the alarm, and he was awoken by the newspaper hitting his front door.

2. In the opening scene (day 1), Scully was shown shot on the floor of the bank.

Answer: False

Mulder was the one who was shot, and Scully was holding him. Then Bernard blew up the bank.

3. What was wrong with Mulder's apartment when he woke up?

Apparently, Mulder kept the waterbed and over-bed mirror that Morris Fletcher installed when they switched bodies (in the episodes "Dreamland" and "Dreamland II"). Humorously, Mulder couldn't remember when he had gotten the waterbed.

He did trip, though not in the same way. The second morning, he made it back into the room and answered the phone call about the apartment below his.
