Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which famous RPG stars a five-lettered protagonist, a naming decision that seems influenced by title's five-character name limit?

Answer: "Chrono Trigger"

Our protagonist Crono is fittingly named, as the game is heavily focused on time travel. The actual "Chrono Trigger" is an item that the player acquires in the "Time Egg" chapter toward the end of the game.
2. How many bosses does the final boss gauntlet of "ActRaiser" include before facing the true final boss?

Answer: Six

The player is given the challenge of re-defeating Minotaurus, Wizard, Pharaoh, Flaming Wheel, Viper, and Ice Dragon in succession before they are given the opportunity to take on the true antagonist Tanzra.
3. In "Final Fantasy IV", I am an ace airship engineer who join your party. In "Final Fantasy VI", one of the main characters - my surrogate daughter - nourishes me with back to health with fish - or does she. Who am I?

Answer: Cid

Cid Pollendina is an over-the-top protagonist in Final "Fantasy IV". In "Final Fantasy VI", Cid Del Norte Marguez essentially serves as Celes' dad - as she affectionately refers to him as he is starving - since she is being used by the Empire. There is no tangible benefit to saving Cid on Solitary Island.

It is - as any speedrunner could tell you - faster to save Cid, if only for the long, dramatic cutscene that ensues. The speed of the fish and where they spawn determine what effect they will have on Cid.
4. The platformer "Boogerman" was more warmly received on the Sega Genesis than Super Nintendo. One small difference between the two is that on the Super Nintendo level select password screen, the password is shorter. What is the password comprised of?

Answer: Enemies

In the Super Nintendo version, the password is three enemies while, in Sega, it is four. Boogerman himself is also included in this batch.
5. The Kong Family is a huge one. Where do we encounter the cantankerous Cranky Kong in "Donkey Kong Country 2"?

Answer: Museum

We first meet Cranky in the original "Donkey Kong Country" in his cabin. In the sequel, he is found in his museum providing the Kongs with useful nuggets of information regarding hidden items for a fee. In "Donkey Kong Country 3," he makes a cameo as an opponent at Swanky's and comments on the player's gameplay upon completion depending whether they achieved the "true ending" or not.

In "Donkey Kong 64", he is a scientist found in his lab.
6. "Super Mario All-Stars" featured several of the first titles for Nintendo's mascot, including the challenged "The Lost Levels", so-named because it was a port of which "Mario" title released only in Japan?

Answer: "Super Mario Bros. 2"

The title also includes America's own "Super Mario Bros. 2", which is essentially the Japanese "Doki-Doki Panic" with Mario-themed palette swaps and a variety of different Mario characters to select to play as.
7. In "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure", a hidden door in the first level of the ruins will lead to a portal that allows the player to play the original "Pitfall" for Atari.

Answer: False

The player must input "A, A, A, A, A, A, Select, Start" on the title screen to play the original "Pitfall", whereas on the PC version, they access it through aforementioned secret door.
8. It is possible to complete the infamous stampede level of "The Lion King" by standing in one spot for the entire level.

Answer: True

Near the ledge side of the level, this is a pixel-perfect trick, but saves the player the stress of dodging the wildebeests and gives them time to rest their hands.
9. "Shadowrun" features a well-hidden - debug room featured many years after the actual release. It contains an item that grants invincibility, previously thought to have not made the cut for the final version at all. What item is it?

Answer: Dog food

The Matchbox is integral to performing this glitch. The room was unearthed after many years after a member of the game's production team gave hints as to how to access it, stating "I wish I could remember the actual cheat, but it was 20 years ago." His information was enough for a determined fan community to crack the complex code which involved opening the menu at a certain location at a very specific time, nearly impossible to determine without the visual cue of a blinking traffic light.
10. While we're on the topic of hidden rooms, here's another famous one from "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past". It was similarly challenging for the gaming community to locate the "Chris Houlihan" room. What is this room full of?

Answer: Blue Rupees

There are 225 Rupees in the form of Blue Rupees, as well as a telepathy tile to speak with him. Houlihan had won a "Nintendo Power" contest to appear in the game.
