Despite the name, Donkey Kong is a gorilla. Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Donkey Kong was looking in a Japanese and English thesaurus and found synonyms for 'stubborn' and 'monkey' to get Donkey Kong.

Too bad the Playstation 2 didn't follow suit...(sigh)

Following the Saturn's failure in both the U.S. and Japan, Dreamcast sales in both countries were lagging.
