Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which breakfast cereal do we associate with Tony the Tiger in Australia?

Answer: Frosties

And they are gr-r-reat! He is also used in USA, but in the USA Frosties are called "Frosted Flakes". In the USA Tony also has a cereal called "Tiger Power".
2. Which breakfast cereal in Australia has mascots called Snap, Crackle and Pop?

Answer: Rice Bubbles

Who would forget these three? In the USA Kellogg's Rice Bubbles has been around since the 30's and it's called Rice Krispies.
"Snap! was born in 1933. Snap! is the oldest and is a good-natured leader. He wears a baker's hat. Pop! (1941) is a comedian. He wears an old-style military hat. Crackle! (1941), somewhat of a know-it-all, gets caught in the middle, trying to keep order between the other two. Crackle! wears a red-striped stocking cap." 3. Which breakfast cereal had a major Australian advertising campaign with Grant Kenny?

Answer: Kellogg's Nutri Grain

Iron man food for our own iron man. Grant Kenny became famous when he won both the junior and senior Iron Man Competitions in the one year, then he went on to win the Iron Man Championship three more times.
4. In Australia, which breakfast cereal do we associate with Coco the Monkey?

Answer: Coco Pops

Just like a chocolate milkshake only crunchy. I liked this quote from http://www.kelloggs.com/company/marketing/history/coco3 so much that I quote it verbatim:

"Coco TM was created in England in 1986 as a spokes-simian for what is called Kellogg'sŪ Cocoa PopsŪ in that country. (He, in fact, is still animated there.)
Since Coco TM has British ancestry, please read the description of him with an English accent:
CocoTM is definitely what you'd call a "cheeky monkey". A rare little chimp from the Cocoa Gorge Region in the British Isles, 'e's a crafty lit'le guy 'oo lives for the tayst o' choc'late. 'e's a friendly, likable bloke, about eleven years owld, 'oo talks and sings wi' a Bri'ish accent. "
5. Which breakfast cereal has a mascot called Toucan Sam?

Answer: Froot Loops

Toucan Sam has helped to sell Kellogg's Froot Loops since 1963 when they were released. He has a magical power- he can sniff out the the flavours in Froot Loops while singing his song, "follow my nose, it always knows..."
6. In Australia, which breakfast cereal do we associate with Cornelius Rooster?

Answer: Corn Flakes

Cornelius Rooster was designed by the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in 1957 for the Kellogg's Corn Flakes package.
7. Which breakfast cereal had a major Australian advertising campaign with Ian Thorpe?

Answer: Uncle Toby's OT's

According to Aussie hero Thorpedo (swimmer Ian Thorpe) in the 2004 TV campaign, they're "fully sick".
8. Which Australian breakfast cereal do we associate with cricketer Tony Greig?

Answer: Kellogg's Nutri Grain

"Like a cricket bat with holes". Sorry to you young-uns. This advertising campaign I think was from the early 80's, though an internet search didn't raise a single match.
I wonder how many of you didn't choose Nutri Grain because it was also the answer for question 3?
9. Which breakfast cereal featured advertisements on Australian TV with the Australian cricket team, the Wallabies, cricketer Brett Lee and rugby player George Gregan in the period 2001-2005?

Answer: Sanitarium Weet Bix

We all remember the ad where each of the cricket team admitted how many Weet Bix they eat for breakfast, but there have been a great variety of ads featuring these and other sportspeople. Sanitarium have supported the Australian cricket team for a number of years.
10. Which breakfast cereal do we associate with Bart Simpson?

Answer: Eat My Shorts

The three incorrect answers are totally fictitious. "Eat My Shorts" is a relative newcomer to the supermarket shelves.
