Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born in Southampton, New York. She had a younger sister called Caroline Lee born in 1933.

Her father John Vernou "Black Jack" Bouvier III and her mother Janet Norton Lee were married on July 7th, 1928 and divorced in 1942. John Bouvier passed away on April 2nd, 1957 and Janet Norton Lee died from Alzheimer's disease in 1989 at the age of 82.
