    Which reigning monarch was the first ever to fly?

    		Well, the first British monarch to fly in an airplane was Edward VIII. He flew from Sandringham to London for his Accession Privy Council in the 1930's.

    		The first monarch to fly in a powered heavier-than-air craft is is credited to King Ferdinand of Bulgaria(reigned 1908-1918), who flew in June 1910 while on a visit to France.

    I would imagine some monarch would've tried ballooning previous to this date, but I can find no reference.
