Pele (not to be confused with the Brazilian soccer player) is the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and fire, who was reputed in Hawaiian myths to be the creator of the Hawaiian Islands. Although Pele worship was banned in Hawaii in the early 1800s, the legends associated her with moving from older and inactive volcanoes to newer and active ones. Thus, in recent times Pele would be said to call the active volcano Kilauea (on the big island of Hawaii) home, as the Wikipedia article notes:
Many Hawaiians believe Kilauea to be inhabited by a "family of fire gods," one of the sisters being Pele who is believed to govern Kilauea and is responsible for controlling its lava flows.

Yes Pele is the goddess of fire and volcanoes. Many Hawaiians believe that lava rocks are sacred and that removing them from Hawaii will bring bad luck. While this is obviously superstition, every year Hawaii Volcanoes National Park receives hundreds of packages of rocks from tourists who have illegally taken them from the park, often with stories of misfortune attached.
