The Earth is not perfectly spherical. Because of Earth's rotation, it's shape is what is called an oblate spheroid The resulting bulge that occurs around the equatorial regions is significant enough to make Mount Chimborazo (Ecuador) the surface point that is furthest from the centre.
The summit of Chimborazo is 6,268 meters 20,564 feet above sea level. However, due to the Earth's bulge, the summit of Chimborazo is over 2,072 meters 6,800 feet farther from the center of the Earth than Everest's peak. That makes Chimborazo the closest point on Earth to the stars.
