Daylight saving.

George Hudson was a postal worker and amateur entomologist (insect hunter) from New Zealand. He is credited with being the first to propose daylight saving time.
His shift-work job gave him leisure time to collect insects, and led him to value after-hours daylight.

Hudson's initial proposal was for a two-hour daylight shift, although that was later modified to one hour.
