Sorry Palaceben but a Jack is only flown from the Jack Staff which is always at the stern of the boat hence the Union Flag of the UK should only be called the Union Jack when it's flown in this position). The burgee or pennant is always the top of the highest mast. (It shows the ownership or membership of club etc.)
