Are there any sports which only men or only women are allowed by sporting authorties to play?

Not exactly a sport in itself, but a sporting event, the Tour de France is strictly men only, although there is a womens version called the Grande Boucle. They tried to call it 'Le Tour' a number of years ago but were forbidden by the TdF authorities.
The only sport I can think of that has ever been gender specific is golf (gentlemen only, ladies forbidden)but as we know, that no longer applies.

In the Olympics there is no women's boxing.

There are some sports where there seems to be absolutely no reason why there should be discrimination, ie no physical contact and no strength element. Such as bowls, bowling, & chess. But tradition dies very hard.
