Is the Queen more powerful than the King in Britain?

    Question #75942. Asked by arul94. (Feb 16 07 12:00 PM)

No. A queen regnant -- that is, a woman who is ruling in her own right as differentiated from a queen consort, who is merely the wife of a king -- has exactly the same powers as a king. This is to say that she doesn't have much power at all.

Currently, Britain has no king. Prince Phillip is the Queen's Consort, not the King.

The King does have more power in the sense that the male heir always assumes the throne over the female. But beyond that they are equal.

There is no king at this time. Prince Phillip is the Queen's husband. He has the title of Queen's Consort. Once the Queen dies, Charles will ascend to the Throne as King Charles.

The queen has barely any power. It is parliament whom has the power.
