2. http://www.adoptapet.com/cgi-bin/public/petsearch.cgi/pet_details?pet_id=1493654&do_count=1

Sing along - "Where did you get that cat? Where did you get that cat?"
Glenda is ALREADY SPAYED? Agggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

How am I to interpret, 'Rescued after two boys beat their mother to death'. If these are friends of yours then I retract the duck threat forthwith.

6. Viscount Ely was knighted by him in Dublin in 1604.

Surreally true. (Think about it)

9. Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, Asia - where a rodent belonging to the subfamily Cricetinae lives.

Must be the hiding place of Osama Bin Hamster as reported by Al the Gerbil.

Interesting repartee mates, confusing, but interesting none the less. I wouldn't have believed it possible to confound such a straight forward and lovely quiz into something so unrecognizable and convoluted ;b
But then, I'm an engineer by training and a horse wrangler in the making. I'll never be a word wrangler, I'm thinking.

Did my ancestors really come from over there? I suppose its true.

"Born in the flesh, and bred in the bone,
Some of us harbour still
A New World pride: and we flaunt or hide
The Spirit of Bunker Hill.
We claim our place, as a separate race,
Or a self-created clan;
Till there comes a day when we like to say,
'We are kin of the Englishman.'

For under the front that seems so cold,
And the voice that is wont to storm,
We are certain to find, a big, broad mind
And a heart that is soft and warm.
And he carries his woes in a lordly way,
As only the great souls can:
And it makes us glad when in truth we say,
We are kin of the Englishman.'

He slams his door in the face of the world,
If he thinks the world too bold.
He will even curse; but he opens his purse
To the poor, and the sick, and the old.
He is slow in giving to woman the vote,
And slow to put up her fan;
But he gives her room in the hour of doom,
And dies--like an Englishman."

Thank you, RJ, a good find :) Ella Wheeler Wilcox - whose most famous lines are amongst my favourites: "Laugh and the world laughs with you, Weep, and you weep alone."

Nice poem RJ, it describes you well - the more you get to know the English, the better you like them.

Who's Rodney King?

I can't go to Burger King, they just closed down the one in Morecambe.

Can you still buy 'Kiss Me Quick' hats in Morecambe?
Do the lads still get punched when they try?

Never purchase Service Station food, I prefer my personal F&M hamper.

Cyberhen, I answered your Rodney King question in the Chain Gnag's Ask any question thread, because the answer did not fit this thread at all.

I understood the Burger King/whopper joke.
Although implying that llamas tell fibs is an outrageous suggestion.

I also know who Rodney King is, but I don't see the link between the LA riots and police brutality and burgers?
