Let me be the first to say "hi". And "good to see you". And "how ya doing?" And, uh, "hi".

DG! Hello - so nice to see you! *happy hug*

All Happy and Pretty good here thanks. Planning next year's Get Away, loooking forward to October's long weekend. After a fairly normal chilly winter it's just warming nicely.

How's things up your way?

A warm welcome to friends 'old' and new! :)

Weekend started off very nicely thank you on Friday afternoon with a relaxing catch-up drink at my sweet SILs, with her extended menagerie, which evolved into a prolonged bout of eating, more drinking and Extreme Gossip. Some ears would have been burning so well they may have been considered a fire hazard!

A kick start on Saturday morning for tree removal - a large swamp cypress that has slowly overshadowed the house a little more each year. A lovely mature tree it was unfortunately planted halfway Up the hill instead of more appropriately down near the spring, where it could have still been frolicking to the Spryte's delight.

Sadly, too many hot dry seasons and great age contributed to the sporadic loss of branches, which was also a little disconcerting to the wildlife that had taken a tumble at times. Possums are not particularly heavy but they certainly fall like a brick.
Tales to visiting friends of renegade drop bears kept Us entertained though! *evil grin*

So....... Dave the Arborist arrived and duly set up his ropes and working cradle, climbed the tree and began it's execution which left Steve and I to haul cut branches from the 'cut zone' to either mulch or cut into firewood.
Four hours later the final stump cuts were completed and internal stress to the tree was very evident - white ants (or termites) - had built a nest nearly 2 metres up into the tree.

Then the rain came so we went for coffee.......

Sunday started very slowly and in torrential rain and howling winds and half the coast under local flooding.

Nice! Morning Tea scheduled for the Macadamia Nut Farm with Miss B, Just Meg and Mrs Sue - 12 klms Up the Valley to the west - along the windy, badly drained, heavily treed road..... Hmmmmm

Phone call from Miss B (aka Daddy's Girl - formerly The Child Sloth) She lives half an hour away towards the east - on the beach....'It was pouring here but it's stopped now - so I'm just leaving."
I suggested she wait till I could book a submarine.

Called Mrs Sue, who was thinking about a shower, in her bathroom. Was it too hairy to venture outside, did she think?
Mrs Sue passed me to Just Meg while she showered and Just Meg and I made an Executive Decision to make a run for it to the local shopping center.

A boat would have been the thing but we manage to arrive for morning tea, soggy but unshaken and unstirred - and spend a happy few hours, as we always do.
Some people never change and are just lovely, happy and absolute Fun to be with no matter When! :)

Sunday afternoon saw rising water in the swamp, a further foray for a new tv for Miss B - which had to be ordered for Tuesday collection, a quick trip to work 22 klms Up the Valley to the west - along the windy, badly drained, heavily treed road to check water levels on the creek and collect some work items, just in case..... and a quiet collapse on Sunday night.

This morning the sun was shining, the sky thought it was Going to be blue, Lake Jilliby was filling nicely and everything was trying to work out how to store the 160mm of rain that had been poured upon it.

Steve headed for work with a proviso he would be back if the creek had flooded and the bridge was under water.
He didn't come back so I left and washed the wheels of the car as I crossed the bridge. The creek has risen over 2 metres since 5pm the day before.

Sent off last week's time sheets to payroll, rang some clients for alternate numbers in case we were flooded out for more than one day, grabbed some items needing posting to Adelaide, switched off, packed up and bolted out with the side rails on the bridge deck just high enough to guide through the water.

It's been fine since. Just enough to lull all the school kiddies and their parents into holiday mode before more rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
With the long weekend looming, it will be a Very Nice Change if it rains all this week and is then fine for those 3 days.

A post La Nina Spring in Australia! Weather for once so normal everyone is grizzling about climate change because it's 'too cold'!
No pleasing some people....

Sounds like a fun mixture of flora and flora and humans. How do you keep the drop bears away - smear your neck with Vegemite, stick forks in your hair? And where will the termites go now?

I hope Miss B is pleased with her telly, and you get enough rain but not enough to swim in.

Hi Lesley. As drop bears are supposedly an imaginary figment we simply ignore them and they stay away.
All bets are off however if a stranger should wander in and be attacked! lol

Rain? -All the tanks, creeks, the river, local dams and swamps are full to exploding and we have had enough for at least this month but will most likely catch next month's supply as well.

Rain falling and water rising as I write.

Bridge to work was covered by a good 2 metres of water at 6pm this afternoon - and rising.
Work and client tomorrow will likely be a non-event....*ohhhh*

By February we'll all be grizzling because it's over 40C and we haven't 'had rain for weeks'!

Now I see why you were too busy to blog!

Any rain you don't need, send it along to Texas. Thank you very much.

What a clever solution - the daleks can feed them to the drop bears. :)

HeHeHe! Daleks! Our local council's head of pest control used to be an aptly named Tom Baker.
