Subject: FT Movie Double Feature - COMPLETE

Posted by: kyleisalive
Date: Jan 15 13

The editors of the Movies category are opening a drive-in theater and their specialty will be the double feature. Looks like we'll need to fill in the blanks with some quizzes! Here will be eight different topics-- for each topic, one quiz needs to be about a single film and the other needs to be about a mixture of films. Thus, by the end, we'll have sixteen quizzes.

You may write more than one quiz, but you can't write both quizzes for a single topic.

For this challenge, no one will have their name assigned to a particular topic. It only counts when it makes its way online. In other words, no formal dibs.

The double features are as follows:

A film set in space - Christinap - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/The-Right-Stuff-357165.html
Multiple films set in space - Card183 - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/It-Happened-in-Outer-Space-356704.html

A film from 2012 - Saleo - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Salus-Movie-Picks-End-of-Watch-2012-356743.html
Multiple films from 2012 - Hiyori - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/2012-in-Movies-356754.html

An Oscar-winning film - Kyleisalive - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Mise-en-sc%C3%A8ne-of-the-Spotless-Mind-357701.html
Multiple Oscar-winning films - Gracious1 - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/They-Won-the-Oscars-in-2012-356744.html

A film featuring an igloo - Suomy - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Flahertys-Nanook-361325.html
Multiple films featuring igloos - Looney_Tunes - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Under-the-Dome-359122.html

A film directed by Elia Kazan - Tazman6619 - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Hey-Stella-A-Streetcar-Named-Desire-356647.html

A film with a title containing a female name - Beergirllaura - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Laura-357263.html
Multiple films with titles containing female names - Reeshy - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Her-Name-In-Lights-356591.html

A film from Europe - Rossian - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Far-From-the-Madding-Crowd-357291.html
Multiple European films - Suomy - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Eurofilms-360347.html

A film about films - Gracious1 - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Inside-The-Celluloid-Closet-357786.html
Multiple films about films - Adam36 - link http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Dissecting-the-Director--359521.html

Remember, all submissions must be sent to the Movies category. Make sure to review the guidelines. For your quiz to count for this challenge, the link must be posted in this thread after the submission is placed online and you must state which double feature it's eligible for; it'd be awkward to fulfill two challenges (eg. a Kazan film with an igloo) and get counted for the wrong one.

Enjoy the show! :)

Although none can be 'claimed' would it not be a good idea to post which one you are working on so we don't get duplicated effort and all of them get covered?

Participants may, by all means, note if they're working on one and try to coordinate.

Re: 'Why no dibs?'
Because there are no reserve tickets at a drive-in.

Geez ... I have to drive three hours if wish to go to a drive in from here. Unless it's school holidays then the one that's 58 kilometres away is open, though, sadly,(puts on his best "Time Warp" impersonating voice) not very longer (removes voice) ... the land is far too valuable and housing plans are already into the council for approval

I'm going to have a go at the female names mixture.

Updated the header post: "For your quiz to count for this challenge, the link must be posted in this thread after the submission is placed online and you must state which double feature it's eligible for; it'd be awkward to fulfill two challenges (eg. a Kazan film with an igloo) and get counted for the wrong one."

So one may write a quiz about a European movie with a female name in the title?

Only if she lives in an igloo, and the 2012 movie was directed by Elia Kazan, and she won an Oscar for her role...

Jan, as I understand it, you can do that, but you must specify whether you want your quiz to count for the European category, or the female name category.

Mine is now submitted. :)

How do you guys write quizzes so fast?

It depends on the person and it depends on the quiz. Some people just write fast provided they have all the materials they need to finish it up.

I used to be able to write several quizzes in a day.... But as time constraints prevented this, I find that I struggle to get one every couple of weeks! :)

I've been procrastinating many templates for a while, for example I took two months to do my last AinA quiz, and I haven't touched my Commission quiz yet, so don't think I always churn them out this quickly. :P I just saw the movies idea and was inspired. :) It's not often I do a quiz in one day's work.

I believe this is reeshy's contribution:

Not sure if I'll tackle one of these, but I just submitted a movie quiz for A in A and was wondering... I started a template for a movie quiz and realized as I researched that the movie I had in mind was a made for television movie rather than a theatrical release. (I have it on DVD.) So I chose a different movie. But where would a made for television movie go? It was a one-time movie, not a series.

Can the Oscar-winning film have just one award for anything? If so, may I coordinate this with another Lounge challenge?

Made-for-TV movies go to TV.
