Just seen your thread jolana ... Cryptic crosswords are popular in the UK with daily puzzles in most of the daily newspapers. They are great fun and (in my view) far more rewarding to complete than GK crosswords. Reply #10. Dec 28 12, 5:00 PM |

Moonraker, thanks for the info, I thought it is something rare, now I see it is quite common. Do you want more? I have the book and as it is far beyond my abilities, the only thing I can do with it is to share:) This time I want the explanation! 5) One has to be distinguished from another of the characters(4). 6) You lose nothing to allow what´s thought mostly to be a festive season (8). 7) Secret code starting to become obvious (6). 8) Disposed of without starting to be seen as dated (3). (I hope I didn´t make a mistake.) Reply #11. Dec 29 12, 7:09 PM |

6. Yuletide You lose nothing - another word for nothing is zero, a zero looks like the letter o, so you lose the o in you = YU To allow = LET What's thought = idea, but mostly means you don't use the whole word = IDE Final clue festive season, join all the parts together = YULETIDE I know that English is not your first language Jolana so i'm not surprised you're having troubles with your crossword book. They are very tricky so I hope my explanation helps. Reply #12. Dec 29 12, 11:58 PM |
