What would be your favorite song from the 1980's be? Anything by the Bangles, Michael Jackson, Wham!, Huey Lewis and the News, or someone else? Personally, some of my favorites are Walk Like an Egyptian, Queen of Hearts, That's What Friends are For, 9 to 5, I Love a Rainy Night, Footloose, Let's Hear It for the Boy, St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion), Total Eclipse of the Heart, and Mickey.

Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division

(Spare me those dreadful cover versions, please. U2 destroyed that song, as did many other bands)

Hello by Lionel Richie OR I Am I'm Me - Twisted Sister. I can't decide between the two.

I posted a few songs a couple of months ago, but I forgot Blondie and Culture Club.

It's hard to imagine anyone else performing Love Will Tear Us Apart with the same intensity and power as Joy Division, but my nomination for jaw-droppingly worst cover imaginable - Nouvelle Vague.

The 80's had so many good songs so it's hard to choose. I really like With or without you by U2 though.

Sorry, Cyd!
Their cover of the Buzzcocks "Ever Fallen In Love" is pretty dire too. :(

Aja, great song, great album, but released originally in 1977.

Easy mistake as the song is timeless.

Here’s a great song from Steely Dan in the very early eighties

Never thought much of eighties music, all those tinny sounding synthesisers, all those power ballads covering up poor voices. Whatever happened to real strings? Well at least there’re back now.

Here’s a good one, although not a great fan of Dire Straits this must come close to one of there best.

Dire Straits – Telegraph Road.
