I own several Brian May solo CD's, including the Brixton Academy CD as well as pretty much everything Queen has put out. In America, where the general population is a little less attuned to music, I don't think Brian May has gotten his props for being the incredibly good guitarist that he is. I personally think Brian May is also quite a fascinating person, as well, from reading about him. The American public would probably be surprised by his PhD in Astrophysics and would applaud his animal rights activism. And whereas I disagree with his and Roger Taylor's decision to perform under the name Queen after Freddie Mercury's death and after John Deacon decided to leave performing, I'm happy to listen to whatever May has recorded or plans to record in the future, whatever name he chooses to use. stmog1 Been a fan of Queen since 1973 when i saw them perform as wrekage and smile before the man that made Queen joined them the late great Freddie Mercury, Whilst i agree a lot of americans do not appreciate Queen or Brian mays talents, I have always been a fan owning all the legally released CD's and vinyls, also countless bootlegs of various concerts from houston texas and seattle to sydney and tokyo, Their music is great the whole band had their own qualities. Is good to see someone say that they disagreed with Brian May and Roger Taylor continuing as Queen, is sommething i have never liked. Brian May is a good Guitarist and a musician of quality. The thing Brian May has done is divide the Queen fans in the uk some who accept that Queen died when Freddie did and Jobn Deacon decided to retire, the whol situation has not been helped by Jim Beach Queens manager, I know a few peoplke connected with the band personaly and they have said there is a lot of stuff in the faults that can and should been released, however Jim Beach seems to just dangle the odd Carrot we were always told that the Budapest concert quality of what was in storage not good enough for commercial release yet last year Queen released it here in UK as Hungarian Rhapsody is my favourite show, also Knebworth show they did, the later apparently is in the vaults so maybe one day will be released. Man, every time I see the title to this thread, I think "Who is Brian, and why may he live at Brixton academy?" Reply #3. Mar 27 13, 2:10 PM |
