Subject: B.B. King has passed away.......

Posted by: rockinsteve

It's a sad, sad day for blues fans. The great bluesman B.B. King has passed away at the age of 89. He kept blues music alive for such a long time. I really thought he would live forever, or at least outlive me! If you've never heard his music, check out Live at the Regal. It's the best live blues album I've heard. R.I.P. Mr. King, you will be missed by many.

I knew he hasn't been well lately & was in hospice care the last I heard but this is a shock to me. Mr. King was a great, talented man & he will be missed. I am very saddened to hear this. Rest in peace, Mr. King. :(

It was a shame to hear but glad he was 89 and had been performing to the end. It was special to me as I met him at the Chicago music fair in 1980 and he was a very friendly guy.

The blues are the root of most genres of music, and I'm sure countless bands and musicians would count BB King as an important influence in their song writing. RIP BBK.

The thrill is gone...

I cried when I heard this today, and have gone through all my concert DVDs, but I don't have one for B.B. King. Maybe there isn't one.

A great loss in music. When it was announced last autumn that he called off his tour I just didn't think this would be the end, despite his health and age. It felt like he'd still go on forever. I felt very sad when I learned the news and had to tell my husband, a big fan of his. It's only been two weeks since he announced his hospice status. He had a difficult early life and deserves to rest in peace with his loved ones.

I was shocked to hear this! I'm no expert on him but this is clearly a loss for the entire music world. So sad.

Also, there ARE DVDs available of his concerts! I just found some on Amazon, I just looked up movies and typed in his name.

He seemed to have been around forever and I don't think he would ever have imagined that he would live to the grand old age of 89.

RIP B.B. you were an inspiration to s**t loads of musicians and I hope you and the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan are still playing your blues/rock guitars on the other side.

Really, Skyflyerjen? I grabbed Jeff Buckley, first the "Mystery White Boy" concert DVD and then "Live at Sin-E'," both the two CDs and the DVD, and out flew a little advertisement for "Sweethearts Of The Rodeo - The Byrds" and "Muddy 'Mississippi' Waters Live," all with "previously unreleased material," but no B.B. King and by then, I was wiped out anyway. Do you recall the name of the concert DVD? I'd love to have it. I sort of thought he would always be with us, and while I realize his music will never die... it's just so sad.

I too cried when I heard the news. He used to come in my store. He would specifically ask for me. I used to joke with him saying hey you sang "Stand By Me" right? He would look at me and smirk and say "NO, Ben E King" It would be an ongoing joke between us. He will be missed. Great person, great musician.

I had the privilege of seeing B.B. and Chuck Berry together in concert years ago. I've seen many shows in my time but that show has always stood out as one of the best, Rip Mr King.
