Robert Winston's mum used to visit my mum, and sometimes she'd bring her son with her. I wasn't interested. He was a teenager - ugh - and a boy - ugh again. Oh to have known then what I know now. :) Reply #82. Jun 28 08, 5:51 AM |

Reposted here, as the single thread about Celebrity Spotting, was turning into a Celebs I have met type thing. No sense in having two threads the same, when one can do just as good. ---- Agnes (JTJ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Posted by: satguru Subject: Celebrity Spotting Date: Jul 21 08 From my last thread, here are some of the bigger names I've seen around without speaking to to protect their privacy, but was still pretty good being right next to in the street or shop. Hampstead is my first list from memory: John Cleese and Connie Booth (separately), Sting, Elaine Paige, Gordon Jackson, Peter Cook, Michael Foot (I think), Marty Feldman, DJ Alan Freeman, Terry Jones and Michael Palin together going to play squash, and also Arthur Mullard and Bill Oddie who I did speak to but only to say things like excuse me. Richmond has a few more, Bamber Gascoigne, Sebastian Coe, Peter Sallis, Liz McColgan (the top runners train along the river) and nearly ran over Nerys Hughes who stepped out in front of me. Surprisingly I've never seen anyone in Golders Green or Hendon, but more people I know which is actually a lot less common round here. Who have you spotted locally just doing your normal things? (edit) (delete) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5 replies. On page 1 of 1 pages. 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- honeybee4 The only one I met near me is our mayor of Fresno, California. He is Alan Autry, he played Bubba on "In The Heat Of The Night." He is from a little town near me. I met Kirk Douglas on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Reply #1. Jul 21 08, 9:51 PM Delete - Edit Twodeez Not so much a celebrity but a sports commentator. Derek Thompson from Channel 4 Racing. Sat next to me on a train recently on his way to work on the Scottish Grand National. Very down to earth man, and we spoke for the whole 50 minute journey. He was actually more interested in which golf course, out of the many we passed, was Royal Troon than horses. I asked him why he wasn't flying with the rest of the Channel 4 team and he told me he was at Darlington opening a bookmakers shop straight after Thirsk races. ps, his tips are crap. Not one winner did he give me:) Reply #2. Jul 22 08, 7:28 AM Delete - Edit gillimalta There are a few Man. Utd players who have properties, here in Malta but I've only seen them from afar when pointed out by over-excited ex-hubby. Fish (Marillion) is here quite often, we're on nodding terms! Reply #3. Jul 22 08, 8:02 AM Delete - Edit dj168 I met Mayor Willie Brown once lol. He shook my hand when I was little. Reply #4. In 2005 I had met A.J. of the Backstreet Boys. I was able to get his autograph and able to give him a poster sized portrait of himself that I made especially for him. Since drawing is a great strength of mine I felt like a celebrity that day because other fans were taking pictures of my artwork rather than the Backstreet Boys. I knew my portraits were well done, not to sound conceited; however, I had no idea that they were that good. Reply #93. Sep 10 08, 10:22 PM |

On honeymoon in Connecticut, visiting my brother-in-law, I met a photographer called Peter Simon. He was a family friend, and my brother-in-law had been engaged to his sister Carly, but her family talked her out of it and she went off and married James Taylor instead. I didn't meet her, though, and I didn't meet their cousin Paul either. Boring! Reply #95. Nov 19 08, 4:16 PM |

These celebrities I saw close up and nodded to all, but didn't speak. Liberace twice, both times in airports' gift shops, with young men being hand cuffed to a suitcase. He wore a huge diamond piano ring both times. Leonard Cohen, shook hands with then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. The most exciting was literally rubbing elbows in a Barbadian food store with Paul McCartney, Linda and their kids. My sister wanted to go and get an autograph but I think it's too much. All I needed was a look in his eyes and he 'knew'. Oh, in Vegas I saw Larry Flynt wearing a hustler t shirt being wheeled areound by a body guard. Reply #98. Dec 09 08, 3:59 PM |

My best friend, who still lives in Montreal[where I am from] married the Queen's grandson. No, I didn't go to the wedding because even though I see my friend regularly, I haven't seen her daughter Autumn in years. Oh, the stories I could tell. haha For years none of us were allowed to speak of it. Reply #99. Dec 09 08, 4:07 PM |
