Do we find any other phrases even more irritating than this lot?

"I know, right"

"And I know left! So, together, we should be able to walk in a straight line - instead of going round in circles! "

Thanks, VM! *preen*

I hadn't heard it before, so I looked it up.

I found a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yl9dsgZjkQg
which suggests a few answers to the despised phrase, not all as polite as yours, Paul.

And the clip links to a facebook page!

Stop Saying "I know, right?"
This expression is nothing but a disgrace and embarrassment to the rest of us who know how to talk. It's simply an ugly combination of words and it does not make sense.
Do us a huge favor and just say, "I agree."

"Be strong."

What are people thinking when they say it, and what do they hope to achieve?

My mother just died. "Be strong."
My house is flooded. "Be strong."
I have a dangerous illness. "Be strong."
The business is bankrupt. "Be strong."
My child is ill. "Be strong."

Will it infuse me with superhuman power, and stop me collapsing in a little heap, as I undoubtedly would have done if they hadn't said it?

I have heard people say "I borrowed her 50 dollars." when they meant "I loaned her 50 dollars."

"Do you know that..." How am I supposed to know if they haven't told me?

Another phrase I find as extremely annoying is 'If you don't even know how to do that, you are completely waste.' How can you learn something without anybody teaching you ???

End of.
I speak the truth: end of.
I believe this to be true: end of.
My government is doing a fine job: end of.

This is almost as patronisingly dismissively rude as "Talk to the Hand" which, mercifully, seems to have disappeared.

"Sir/Ma'am you forgot to give us our homework." "Having said that." "Whaddaya want, a cookie?" "Correct me if I'm wrong." I also chuckle a little bit when someone says " new q ler" or "jool er ee".

"I go, I come back" was a catchphrase from ITMA.

How's it being used now?

Hi Lesley. I don't know if this something that is said in the UK, but it's really been getting under my skin lately. "Bucket list". Everyone has one of these buckets lately. If it's already been posted; you're awesome.

Sorry, Bernard, it's here too. I've seen 101 and 225 and 10,000 things to do before you die, including an article in the Guardian. (Glossary: English gutter press.)

Did it come from the film title - things-to-do-before-you-kick-the-bucket list - or did the concept exist before the film? Just faintly curious because I have no immediate plans to make one.

"Channels."
Translation: She sort of vaguely reminds us of someone or something, so we'll pretend we know that's the look she was after. That way the reader will fill in for us, so we can save ourselves a lot of effort.

Two examples seen in an online rag today:

"Dannii Minogue channels masculine chic."
Translation: Dannii Minogue has short hair and is wearing tailored clothes.

"Smouldering Milla Jovovich channels Elizabeth Taylor glamour with smokey eye make-up..."
Translation: Model-turned-actress Milla Jovovich is wearing too much eye make-up.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but "going forward" is the one that's been annoying me for a while.

Also, everyone seems to be saying "Really?" in a new special condescending sarcastic manner and i want to slap them. :(

I hate it when football (soccer) commentators say the team are hoping for a result when they mean they are hoping for a win. Win,lose or draw they have a result!

Anything that uses the passive voice, such as "mistakes were made".
