I eat Chinese food every day. I like what my mother cooks.
If eating out, simple hawker fare like chicken rice, yong tau foo and fish soup are good.

My mom once told me I must be the only person that could eat Chinese food every day of the week. I replied "Actually, there are several billion Chinese people that do it too."

In my travels from NYC through AZ, MT and WA I've never had better than Beef Chow Fun in Chinatown (Manhattan). Unfortuately, nothing I've had since comes close, and the further you go from urban civilization, the more the recipes become americanized.

Sweet and Sour Chicken, Wontons, and General Tso's Chicken. I like the Egg-Drop Soup, too.

Shido, my town, Hanford California, is far away from the big cities but it is lucky to have a small China town dating back to the 1800's. We get real chinese food here. Here is an article about it.

Honeybee, thanks for the article. It sounds like a great little town that has the best of two worlds; it's a small, friendly and cultural town, and it has authentic Chinese food! I wish I was there.

I'm envious. I can't even find Chow Fun noodles because they have to be made and sliced fresh, and most people either don't know about, or have enough interest for resturants to make them. :( It's also hard to find Chinese broccoli. When I see Chow Fun served at all it's usually done with lo mein noodles and shredded onion and/or bok choy. It's not the same, but at least it's chinese food. :)

I don't miss much about NYC, but I do miss Chinatown (and Broadway). Still, it's important to take the good with the bad when you live somewhere. I've gotten use to chinese food containing jalapenos, tobasco, catchup, cream cheese, and a lot of oil. In some cases, while not authentic, I would still call it good. It's better than my cooking, and it has an 'Asian flair'.

My favourite is barbecued spare ribs, followed by char sui fried rice with curry sauce. I also like the barbecued roast duck off the bone, chicken with black bean sauce and sweet and sour pork Cantonese style. I also love their desserts. Banana fritters with syrup and ice cream. Cointreau or Grand Marnier ice cream. That's me starving now!

Had Chinese food for lunch: boneless spare ribs, roast pork fried rice, vegetable lo mein, eggroll. A very tasty and FILLING combination!
