Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve.... You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

My mother said, when greeted by cries of "It's not fair!", replied, "No, it's a circus."

"Youth is wasted on the young" the older you get the more this saying makes sense.

Here's another one: "Some things seem like a good idea at the time".

"Is being _________ (stupid, self-righteous, arrogant, intolerant, add your own word) like being high, all the time?"

Even if you can't see them, people just stop and blink.

"Hold my beer and watch this!" is another big favorite, although I don't drink beer. It still gets the point across.

Krabbit's post reminded me of something my mother would say. I could be a cheeky child and when she was giving me advice I would sometimes say "You've told me that before" . She would reply "Well I'm telling you behind now".

That's a great one, Mixi!

I'm also a fan of "Everything's fun for awhile..."

My parents were always telling us as children, "The reason God gave you two hands was that one is to help yourself and the other is for helping other people". This was often heard when administering Indian Rope Burns to each other (us kids) and typically following the "Idle hands are the "Devil's workshop" intro.
