At the moment it's "Im wunderschönen Monat Mai" from "Dichterliebe" by Robert Schumann. Just beautiful. Reply #21. May 09 12, 4:16 PM |

If you really love music, of any genre, you will believe "the best song ever" hasn't been written yet. Or if it has, you haven't heard it. :)) Reply #22. May 09 12, 4:54 PM |

I don't know, Best Song Ever is pretty broad. I never tire of Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones (also It's Only Rock 'n' Roll). Reply #23. Sep 21 12, 5:06 PM |

Wow, best song ever? One that comes to mind is "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. It still gives me chills every time I hear it. I think Garfunkel's vocal on the song is just incredible. Reply #25. Sep 30 12, 10:25 PM |

There is a song..........a song that played as an instrumental, can convey sadness, defiance or jubilation depending upon how it is played..........a song I love.............but can only be mentioned at the risk of condemnation. Reply #28. Dec 18 18, 5:31 AM |

'm intrigued, C30! Do tell. My favourite song is 'Stand By Me' by Ben E King, but I think the best song ever is probably Bohemian Rhapsody. It was so cutting edge when it came out, combines so many styles and great mood changes, and is instantly recognisable and unforgettable. How many people do you know that don't know the words? Mix posted a link but I can't find it - maybe you can help me out, Mix? Basically, whilst doing soundchecks before a big outdoor concert (not Queen) the roadies decided to play Bohemian Rhapsody over the speakers. The entire crowd of thousands of people sang along with the whole thing, it was awesome. Not many songs would get the same response (although I'm sure lots of you will proceed to remind me of other very popular songs!). Reply #29. Dec 18 18, 7:11 AM |

Umber................if I say it quietly, maybe nobody will notice. Lol I refer to the "National Anthem" of the old Confederate States of America............"Dixie".........always found it gives me a tingle down my spine. Reply #30. Dec 18 18, 4:11 PM |

I've always liked "America The Beautiful", especially the version by Ray Charles. Best ever pop/rock songs - "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, "Hey Jude" by The Beatles, "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. Honorable Mention - "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers. Reply #31. Dec 18 18, 5:02 PM |

C30, thanks, I get why you're whispering.......but you like what you like. You're in good company, 'Dixie' was Abe Lincoln's favourite tune. Reply #32. Dec 19 18, 2:08 AM |

Wow, I didn't know Dixie was Abe's favorite tune. Kind of ironic. I also can't believe I haven't noticed this thread until now. I don't know, I'd have to really do a lot of thinking on this one, but as far as the lyrics actually having something worthwhile to offer, Imagine by John Lennon would have to be way up there. Same thing with When the Children Cry by White Lion. I can't listen to that song without getting a little choked up, there's no way. As far as what really trips my trigger personally and gives me the kind of adrenaline rushes that no song has ever done before, my personal Grammy award for best song would have to go to the ultimate heavy metal anthem for all eternity - Delivering the Goods by Judas Priest. Of course, I really don't know anything about music at all other than a few terrifyingly satanic heavy metal bands. Reply #33. Jun 27 19, 5:18 PM |

sadwings, please do not post the names of your satanic heavy metal bands, they might frighten others. Come on, man! Think of the children! Hahahahaaha, you know I’m joking :) I already posted my favorite song on here, “Nights in White Satin” by The Moody Blues. But here are the runners-up (note: wow, this list really piled up… but I stand by it! When I hear these songs, I *feel* them): For Me, It’s You by Train Counting Stars by OneRepublic It Feels So Good by Sonique Sound of Madness by Shinedown Black Out Days by Phantogram Sway by lostprophets Drive by Incubus Heartache Tonight by Eagles Say You Love Me by Fleetwood Mac The Walk by Imogen Heap Easier to Run by Linkin Park Piano Man by Billy Joel My Last Breath by Evanescence What the Water Gave Me by Florence + the Machine Drumming Song by Florence + the Machine Seven Devils by Florence + the Machine Beggin’ For Thread by BANKS Wash Away Those Years by Creed Don’t Stop Dancing by Creed Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd Map of the Problematique by Muse Undisclosed Desires by Muse Knights of Cydonia by Muse What We Will Never Know by innerpartysystem This Time by 3 Doors Down Everything’s Just Wonderful by Lily Allen Dream by Bishop Briggs In the Waiting Line by Zero 7 Reply #34. It may not be the most popular song in the world right now, but eventually Embrace the Dork by Stagedork will capture the hearts of everyone in the world who loves freedom, especially the freedom to Embrace the Dork. It's like the We Are The World of the 21st century. How many musical acts in the world can completely destroy a stage and everything on it just from a chain reaction of totally unscripted accidents and mishaps? Stagedork can do it. I've seen them do it. When they come to your town and dorkishly destroy the biggest concert venue in town, maybe you will get to see it happen. In the meantime, just remember: They trip, they fall, they do it all. Stagedork. Reply #35. Jun 29 19, 7:21 PM |
