I feel sorry for him. Peripheral neuropathy is terrible thing to have. First it spreads. Then it mirrors itself on the other side of the body. And then it continues to spread on both sides of the body. The article mentions Eric Clapton's previous problems with addictions, including to alcohol. It then closes the article saying peripheral neuropathy can be cause by alcohol abuse. That snide remark was uncalled for. It can also be caused by njury such as a car accident to hitting a part of your body hard against the corner of a table and getting a hematoma. Eric is having difficulty playing his guitar due to peripheral neuropathy Reply #1. Jun 14 16, 4:37 PM |

I thought the same thing about the alcohol comment. At least he hasn't stopped trying to play. Reply #2. Jun 14 16, 5:26 PM |

Wow, I wasn't aware he had released so many albums. In my opinion Santana and Eric Clapton are the two best guitarists past or present! Reply #3. Jun 14 16, 5:29 PM |

"Diabetes is the most common cause of peripheral neuropathy in the UK. Neuropathy can also be caused by other health conditions and certain medications. In some cases, no cause can be identified and this is termed idiopathic neuropathy." Later in the article is a list of a couple of dozen illnesses and a few medications that can cause it. The BBC's casual reference to alcohol is (IMHO) cheap, lazy journalism. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/peripheral-neuropathy/Pages/Causes.aspx Reply #4. Jun 14 16, 6:33 PM |

I feel for Eric since he clearly loves playing the guitar. He can play some mean Blues that man also 'Wonderful tonight' and 'Tears in heaven' are great ballads. Reply #5. Feb 06 19, 6:48 AM |
