Subject: Nancy Sinatra, first wife of Frank.

Trending news on Google. Nancy Barbato Sinatra, first wife of Frank and mother of Nancy, Frank Junior and Tina, has passed away at the age of 101. Despite her famous husband's errant ways, a messy divorce and his three later marriages to Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow and Barbara Marx, Nancy was his steadfast confidante until his death in 1998 and Frank never had a bad word to say about her. A remarkable, resilient woman who conducted herself with great dignity. Vale, Nancy.

That's so very sad. 101 is an incredible age; she was clearly strong for living that long. Rest in peace.

She had longer than most people to make her mark, and didn't waste a second! The memories she must have taken with her, and those which the people who knew her will continue to tell for many more years to come, must speak of a life much more well lived than many folks can dream of.
She'll be missed by more people than most of us can imagine, too.
I suspect that when she went, she wasn't looking back with any sense of unfulfillment or to much left on her bucket list.
How many of us will be able to say the same?

Not to mention she was once married to THE greatest singer ever, ever, ever. He may have been a failure as a husband but he was still at heart a family man and Nancy was a constant in his life as were his son and two daughters. Nancy never remarried and she was once asked why. Her reply was, "When you've been married to Frank Sinatra, you stay married to him."

When Frank Junior was kidnapped for ransom in 1963, Nancy and Frank were probably closer then than they'd been for a while. It was a lifelong friendship, despite Frank's many, many shortcomings. They had met when Frank was an unknown and she always had great faith his talent would eventually turn him into a star. Once he became one, the marriage was all but over. Too much time recording and performing, too many temptations, especially when they moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles so he could begin his movie career. And then the stunningly beautiful Ava Gardner came along and Nancy never stood a chance. That's showbiz for you. Mind you, all those masterpiece albums Frank recorded in the 50's had Ava written all over them, especially the torch songs. Theirs was a different type of relationship and subsequent marriage and divorce. With Nancy it was love and respect and friendship. With Ava it was a burning passion that never extinguished. You can hear it in the songs. "Ava taught Frank how to sing a torch song...she taught him the hard way." Frank's gifted arranger Nelson Riddle came up with that quote.

Still deceased and still Sinatra's first wife. Will report if there are any changes.
