One of mine (out of many)

I Will.Survive by Gloria Gaynor - great words and voice. Recently used in stop smoking commercials here in the USA.

I thought Gloria Gaynor had lots of hits, or am I misunderstanding the concept of this thread?

An odd one from1967 that always sticks in my head is 'Kites' by Simon Dupree and the Big Sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQAm4wcK0vo

I just looked up Gloria Gaynor and there's nothing else as memorable to her name, it seems. I must have been mixing her up with someone else.

OMG, Mix, Kites......I haven't thought about that song in years, but when I first heard it, aged about 15, I was totally obsessed with it. I used to doodle kites in my schoolbooks and sing it constantly under my breath. Thanks for the lovely reminder :-)

UmberWunFayun. On day, not too long ago, a bit of the tune and a few of the words came into my head, but I wasn't able to find it for a while because I couldn't remember the title. It was frustrating. Eventually I remembered enough to find it. I remember it sticking on my brain too at the time.

"In letters of gold on a snow white kite,
I will write,
I love you
And send it soaring high above you,
For all to read"

It's so poetic!

On another note, how about My Sharona by The Knack?

99 Red Balloons by Nena was another great, catchy song.

"Cruel To Be Kind" - Nick Lowe, his only Top 40 hit in the U.S., he's had about five in the UK.

"Macarena" – Los Del Rio

I think Gloria Gaynor had another hit with 'Never can say goodbye'

This is a strange song by Dr Strangely Strange. It's called 'Strangely Strange but Oddly Normal' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9TgqHISO0U
