Gong, Li
"Curse of the Golden Flower" (2006). At the press conference before the filmmaking, Zhang said that he had a long-held wish that he would have Gong play a queen in one of his films. And Gong shed a few tears after hearing his words. They had broken up 10 years earlier in 1995.
"Shanghai Triad" (1995). During the production of this film, Gong Li fell in love with Huang Hexiang, a Singapore businessman. At the press conference after the filmmaking, Zhang claimed painfully that the relationship between him and Gong had ended.
"Terracotta Warrior" (1990). In 1990, Gong Li acted together with Zhang Yimou in the film "A Terracotta Warrior". Zhang is not only a good director but a good actor. At that time they were in intense love. In order to stay with Gong, Zhang went to Hong Kong to play in s film.
All of them (Cannes Festival Trophy, Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival., the Berlinale Camera at the Berlin International Film Festival.). Gong Li is the only Chinese actress who won in all the three major European film festivals. Even internationally, it is very rare.
Red Sorghum. In 1986, Gong Li was chosen by Zhang Yimou to act in "Red Sorghum", which was the first production for both Zhang, as a director, and Gong, as an actress. Thus they began the greatest collaboration in Chinese film history.

Central Academy of Drama. Gong Li was admitted by Central Academy of Drama in 1985 and learned acting there for 4 years.

"Terracotta Warrior" (1990). In "Terracotta Warrior", she acted the role of three girls, with a long interval between. The first was a maid in an imperial palace in Qing dynasty, the second was an unpopular actress in 1920s, and the last one was a Japanese tourist girl in 1980s. In fact they are the same one coming back to life repeatedly after death, a theme popular in early 1990s Hong Kong movies. "A Better Tomorrow" (1986). Gong Li collaborated with Hong Kong film companies on mnmay occasions. Generally speaking, Hong Kong movies are very commercially oriented so it was not very easy for a mainland actress like Gong Li to work there. But she still achieved success and won a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress for "Curse of the Golden Flower" (2007).
Chen Kaige. She performed in "Farewell My Concubine" (1993), "Temptress Moon" (1996), "The Emperor and the Assassin" (1998), which were all directed by Chen Kaige, another great Chinese director. But there is a long-held saying in China that Gong performs best in Zhang Yimou movies but pale much in movies by other directors.
All three of them. She joined the jury of the 50th Cannes Festival (1997), 50th Berlin Film Festival (2000) and 59th Venice Festival (2002). She was the jury president at the Berlin and Venice festivals. In addition to the above three, she was also the jury president of 16th Tokyo International Film Festival (2003).
Singapore. She married Singaporean businessman Ooi Hoe Soeing in 1996, and became a Singaporean citizen in 2008.
