Invasion
Gund Arena in Cleveland. The Gund Arena in Cleveland was sold out for this anticipated event. "Invasion" promised to a spectacular event. I believe the fans were not let down.
In the first match for the evening, who did King Edge and Christian face off against? | WWF "Invasion" 2001
|
Mike Awesome and Lance Storm . King Edge and Christian faced off against Mike Awesome and Lance Storm. As Storm was asking if he could be serious for a minute, the music of Edge and Christian came on. Edge and Christian focused their attack primarily on Awesome. They were still mad that he considered himself to be the "Awesome One." Mike Awesome and Lance Storm had Christian isolated and was wearing him down. Luckily, Christian was able to tag Edge in, and the newly crowned King speared Awesome; Lance Storm broke up the pinfall. As Awesome went to powerbomb Edge, Christian gave him a spear. Thus, King Edge was able to pin Awesome and win the first match for the WWF. Throughout this match, JR kept saying that Storm was WCW's best wrestler. If he was the best, as JR said, why on earth would he stay with WCW?
What is the name of the WWF official and the WCW referee that faced off in the first ever Referee Match? | WWF "Invasion" 2001
|
Earl Hebner and Nick Patrick . "Invasion" had the first ever Referee Match. Earl Hebner proved to one and all that the WWF is the best in "Sports Entertainment." Amazing, even their referees can wrestle! Way to go Earl!
Mick Foley . In this match Mick had himself covered. On his referee shirt, he had the WWF logo on the left side of his shirt, and the ECW and WCW logos on the right side of his shirt. He proved that he is a fair and impartial person, even with the threat of the WCW and ECW. Mick is good. After the Referee Match, Patrick started getting smart with Foley, and shortly after that Nick Patrick got to taste Mr. Socko. Way to go Mick!
Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire. The APA faced off against Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire. Bradshaw gave Palumbo a "Clotheline from Hell" for the pin. This match showed everyone why the APA rule. Way to go Bradshaw and Faarooq!
That Team WECW would see the best of The Undertaker. When Vince McMahon came into The Undertaker's and Kane's locker room, he told Taker that the Inaugural Brawl was the match to win. Undertaker slammed Vince against the wall and said "they (Team WECW) would see the best of The Undertaker."
Tajiri. Tazz faced off against Tajiri. This match was the result of Tazz performing the "Tazzmission" on Tajiri at "Smackdown" two weeks ago. Tazz suplexed Tajiri a few times and Tajiri put Tazz in the "Tarantula." Tajiri gave Tazz some hard kicks to the head and stomach. Tajiri won when he blasted Tazz's eyes and face with the green mist. I wonder how Tajiri does that? Way to go Tajiri!
Rob Van Dam . Jeff Hardy faced off against Rob Van Dam for the WWF Hardcore Championship. This match was one of the best. Jeff almost had him beat when he took the ladder out and climed to the top. Van Dam went into the ring and knocked the ladder over onto the cement floor. Jeff was dazed for a few minutes, then he went on the attack again. Van Dam suplexed Jeff into the pit in front of the huge screen. They made their way back to the ring where Jeff attempted to do a "Swanton Bomb," but Van Dam put his knees up. Van Dam won the the Hardcore title when he hit Jeff with a "Five Star Frog Splash." Better luck next time Jeff, I know you'll get the title back soon!
Billy Kidman. X-Pac faced off against Billy Kidman. X-Pac fought hard but lost to Kidman. Are we to believe that Kidman is so good that he was able to kick out of the "X Factor"? I don't think so. How could Kidman come back from that move when Kane couldn't? Are we to believe that Kidman is better than Kane? Again, I don't think so.
Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler . Trish and Lita faced off against Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler in a first ever Bra and Panties Match. Trish and Lita won when they stripped Torrie and Stacy down to their bras and underwear. Way to go Trish and Lita!
The Undertaker, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, and Stone Cold. Team WWF consisted of The Undertaker, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, and Stone Cold. Stay tuned to see the outcome.
Raven. Commissioner William Regal faced off against Raven. It's hard to believe, but Regal actually received cheers from the audience. Anyway, Regal almost had this match locked up when Tazz came in and gave him a huge suplex. This interference caused Regal the match. If I know Regal, he's only just begun to fight!
The Inaugural Brawl . This match was the best ever!
Stone Cold Steve Austin . Team WWF and Team WECW faced off in the Inaugural Brawl. Team WWF started cleaning house. Team WWF fought hard, very hard. Then everything went wild. Both teams got in the ring and started fighting. Then Diamond Dallas Page ran out of the ring with The Undertaker hot on his tail. Austin feigned a hurt knee, as he watched Jericho and Kane getting the worst of it. Angle was down in the ring along with Booker T. Then Vince got the WWF Heavyweight belt and slid it to Angle. All of a sudden, Shane hit Vince with the belt. Angle knocked Shane out of the ring, and gave Booker T the "Ankle Lock." All of a sudden, Austin nailed Angle with a "Stone Cold Stunner" and put Booker T on top of Angle. The referee counted to three as the whole audience looked on in total shock. Then Austin, Stephanie, Shane, and Heyman all congratulated each other on their victory. If only The Undertaker would have stayed in the ring, Team WWF would have won. After all, it's his yard. This match signified the beginning of a war. Team WECW might have won the battle, but they will never win the war. Not with The Undertaker and Kane in WWF. They are not called the "Brothers of Destruction" for nothing.
