Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Raphael. Raphael wore red, Leonardo wore blue, Donatello wore purple, and Michelangelo wore orange. In the original comic book series, upon which the cartoon was based, all four turtles wore red bandanas and brown elbow, wrist, and knee pads.
Leonardo. Leonardo used katanas--Japanese swords; Raphael used sais--three pronged blocking weapons; Donatello used a bo staff--a simple wooden staff; and Michelangelo used nunchucks--pieces of wood linked together by chain.
The Technodrome. The Technodrome resembled a Death Star on wheels with an eyeball on top.
Shredder and Krang. The Shredder was the original villain the turtles faced in the comic book. Krang's appearance was based upon an alien race from the comic books, the Utroms, however he is not an Utrom in the show.
Bebop and Rocksteady. Bebop and Rocksteady, a mutated warthog and a mutated rhino, never appeared in the original comic series. They were created for the cartoon series.
Dregg. Dregg was an evil alien bent on conquering Earth. After the turtles banished Krang and Shredder to Dimension X, Dregg became the new main villain.
Dimension X. Krang was banished from Dimension X because of his terrible war crimes. He lost his body in the transfer to Earth, making him nothing more than a brain with a face.
Splinter. Splinter was a mutated rat who had once been a man named Hamato Yoshi. Yoshi was a ninja master, but had been betrayed by his student, Oroku Saki, who went on to become the Shredder. He was forced to flee Japan and live in the sewers of NYC. In the comic book series, Splinter was a pet rat of Hamato Yoshi, and was not Hamato Yoshi himself.
Oroku Saki. The Shredder's real name was Oroku Saki. In the cartoon, he was a former student of Hamato Yoshi, and betrayed him.
"Turtle Tracks". "Turtle Tracks" was episode 1, "Enter the Shredder" was episode 2, "A Thing About Rats" was episode 3, and "Turtle Trek" was episode 178.
New York City. Originally living in a sewer den, the TMNT have moved deeper underground to an older underground structure. They've lived a short time above-ground in April's apartment, and their adventures have taken them around the globe and into space, but they always return to NYC.
The Purple Dragon Gang. The Purple Dragon Gang originally hassled the Ninja Turtles' human friend, Casey Jones, and have run into them often - always ending in battles. Both a friend (Angel) and an enemy (Hun) have been members of this street gang.
Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki. The origin story changes from version to version, but in the cartoon as well as the original comic books, Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki (later called "Shredder") battled as Splinter the rat watched. Tang Shen (Yoshi's girlfriend) and Oroku Nagi (Saki's brother) are characters from the original comic books.
Casey's Northampton farmhouse. Casey's family owns a farm in Northampton where the Turtles spend some time relaxing from the stresses of New York City. While on the farm they meet such characters as an alien queen, a sasquatch, and Casey's mother.
Lab Assistant. In the cartoons and original comic story, April works as Baxter Stockman's lab assistant when first she meets the Turtles. Her second-hand store is only open part-time. In the original comics she worked part time as a waitress in Northampton, and in the cartoons and movies she was a reporter.
Ch'rell. Ch'rell is the Shredder's true name, even before he was known as Oroku Saki, according to the Fox cartoon series. The other names are nods to other TMNT characters - Obato from the original comics (A Foot Ninja), Traximus from this same cartoon (A Triceraton), and Umeko from the Archie comics (another name for Ninjara, the fox-humanoid.)
Donatello. Donatello is the scientist, Leonardo the outspoken do-good leader, Raphael the hot-headed emotional sort, and Michelangelo is the good-spirited fun-lover.
General Traag. General Traag first appeared in episode 5. He was the one Krang depended on when he lacked confidence in Shredder and his goons. Lieutenant Krogg, Captain Boulder and Sargeant Briggs are not Ninja Turtles characters.
Lord Dregg. Dregg was the villain who took Shredder's place as the Turtles' main enemy in the last two seasons. He was an alien warlord who wanted control over the planet. Scumbug is a mutated exterminator who appeared on the show as a regular enemy. Ace Duck was a test pilot named Ace Conrad who changed into a duck mutant when Krang attempted to transport an earth duck to dimension X. He was a friend of the turtles. Hun is one of the main villains in the second Ninja Turtles animated series, not the original.
Chet Manley. While walking home with his recently purchased pet turtles, Chet Manley saw a blind man walk in front of a large truck. He shoved him out of the way and saved his life. However, he dropped the case containing the baby turtles. The turtles were swept into the sewer by the mutagen that spilled from the overturned truck.
April. She is the first human the turtles became friends with. In the first episode they saved her from being "beat up".
Zack. It's also interesting how in the episode "The Missing Map" Mike told the joke about the 7th and 8th turtles, so the four of them could retire.
Donatello. It seems the turtles like to make references to other super heroes. Donatello's outfit is like that of Batman's. And there is the episode "Turtles Turtles Everywhere" where Superman's phonebooth is brought up.
Michelangelo and Leonardo. If you got this question wrong you might have confused it with "Adventures in Turtle Sitting". In this episode Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo became children. Meanwhile, Michelangelo watched after them.
Donatello. Donatello's brain power seems to always get the guys out of tight situations. That's not to say the others never get them out of trouble, though.
Michelangelo. It's true they all love pizza. But Mike seems to like it a lot! After all he is usually the one getting it, or sometimes eating the pizza of the others.
Turtles fight with honor. Leonardo seems to like to say this the most. However, the others also say this while going into battle.
