Who do Roran, Eragon and Saphira rescue in Helgrind at the beginning of the book? | Brisingr

Katrina. Katrina, Sloan's daughter and Roran's betrothed. In the last book (Eldest) Katrina was captured by the Ra'zac and taken to Helgrind. Eragon promised to help Roran rescue her at the end of the second book, "Eldest".

Yes. After Eragon, Roran and Saphira rescue Katrina, Eragon wants to save Sloan (Katrina's father), but because Sloan betrayed Carvahall, Eragon thought it wasn't a good idea to take him back to the Varden. Eragon then discovers Sloans true name (which helps him to take control of Sloan) and forces Sloan to travel to Du Weldenvarden where the elves will take care of him and he won't be able to disrupt Katrina's and Roran's life.

Arya. Because Eragon wants to help Sloan, without Roran or Katrina finding out, he makes Saphira take Roran and Katrina back to the Varden while he goes back into Helgrind and Rescues Sloan. When Saphira reaches the Varden and everyone notices Eragon is not with her Arya takes off to go and find him. Eragon and Arya find each other in Wayfarer's House in Eastcroft.
Eragon. Roran want to marry Katrina but doesn't have any land or a house to offer her. He believes the best gift would be to have a Dragon Rider marry them. Eragon is also Roran's only remaining relative besides Murtagh.

Why is it so difficult for the Varden's warriors to kill Galbatorix's soldiers? | Brisingr

Galbatorix put a spell on them so they don't feel pain. Galbatorix cast a spell to stop the soldiers feeling pain. Because these soldiers can't feel pain, whenever they are stabbed they can't feel it so they continue fighting. This makes it hard for the Varden to kill them because whenever they strike their enemy they just keep coming back for more.
Did Roran agree to have 30 lashes for disobeying his Captain? | Brisingr

No. While on a mission from Nasuada, Roran's captain finds himself in a deadly situation. All the Varden warriors look to Roran for help, so Roran decides to disobey his captain in order to save him. Because he disobeyed even though he saved the Varden he still had to be punished so that others among the Varden don't follow his example. Nasuada gives him three options for punishment. One is death (which she wouldn't do because he is Eragon's cousin), two is 30 lashes and he is stripped from his rank in the Varden and three is 50 lashes and he keeps his rank in the Varden. Roran thought it best to have 50 lashes and stay with the Varden than to have 30 and not be with the Varden.

Brisingr. Brisingr means fire and every time Eragon says the name of his sword it bursts into flames. Za'roc is Morzan's sword, Undbitr is Brom's sword and Termerlein is owned by an elf in Ellesmera.

Oromis. At the end of the book Oromis decides to fly to Gil'ead and help the Elves in battle. Unfortunately they didn't expect Murtagh and Thorn (his dragon) to be there. Oromis and Murtagh fight long and hard but Murtagh starts to lose strength. Oromis believes he is going to win the fight until Galbatorix steps in and takes control of Murtagh's body. Galbatorix kills Oromis and thinks he killed Glaedr but Glaedr can't completely die because he gave his Eldunari (heart of hearts) to Eragon, which means his body is dead but his spirit is still alive.
Brom. In the second book (Eldest) The Twins discover Murtagh's and Eragon's mother is the same person, so they assumed that Morzan was also Eragon's Father. Little did they know that after Murtagh was born Eragon's mother Selena feel in love with Brom who disguises himself as a servant to enter the castle to see her. One day Morzan sent Selena on a mission (as his Black Hand). Selena took the chance to hide in Carvahall where her brother Garrow lived. There she gave birth to Eragon and asked Garrow to take care of him. When Brom found out he had a son, he hid in Carvahall and watched over him disguised as a storyteller.
Tenga. Eragon meets Tenga while returning from the Ra'zac's lair. Tenga assigns Eragon some work and keeps moaning about finding the answer to a question. Eragon finds out Tenga taught Angela when he returns to Nasuada.
Hefring. Hefring was the thief employed by Brom to steal the three eggs in Galbatorix's hold. However, he stole only one and ran away with it. Brom spent seven months looking for him and finally took the egg from Morzan, who had killed Hefring and taken the egg.

Iorunn. Vrenshrrgn means 'War Wolves'. They have the fiercest dwarf warriors of all the clans. Iorunn was the last Grimsborith to cast her vote in the election for king, and she cast her vote for Orik, causing him to beat Nado by seven votes to five.

May you leave Alagaesia and never return!. When Eragon caught up with the Ra'zac the Ra'zac offered to make a pact with him. Eragon said that he would agree if what the Ra'zac said was agreeable. The Ra'zac said that Galbatorix had found the true name. He wouldn't what or who's true name. Eragon disagreed and the Ra'zac cursed him saying that line.

Eragon uttered Sloan's true name. Eragon accidentally came upon Sloan's true name and used it to force him to go to Du Weldenvarden. Sloan was taught the Ancient Language so he could promise in the tongue to the Dragon Rider, and Eragon placed spells to protect the butcher in the wild before he got to Du Weldenvarden.

Humans, Dwarves, and Urgals. Nasuada needed a guard ever since the Battle of the Burning Plains. All three races were chosen since these races are were traditionally at odds and arguments may occur because of this.

Tenga. On his way back to the Varden Eragon spotted an elven outpost on a hill. He climbed up to the structure spotting an old man hunching over a garden. Tenga offered a meal for help. Later he talked about nonsense. Eragon thinking he was mad, ran away from Tenga and headed towards the Varden.
