Carmody, Isobelle
Coercion. Coersion is the ability to make a person do anything you want them to. Empathy is being able to read and project emotions. Farseeking is being able to read minds over long distances. Deep probing is being able to delve deep into the mind.
Matthew. Matthew, Dameon and Cameo are Elspeth's first friends at Obernewtyn.
a maze. Obernewtyn is the only place not ruled by the council.
The Age of chaos. The Great White is the name for a nuclear explosion.
eyes. Rushton is the farm overseer.
a pig. This event becomes significant in the later books.
Cameo. Cameo had almost as much power as Elspeth.
Rosamunde. Elspeth coerced Rosamunde to denounce her so that her brother wouldn't get into trouble.
Farseeking. Elspeth has almost equal talent in all four abilities.
Rushton Serephim. Rushton's mother was married the the original master of Obernewtyn.
The Gathering. "The Gathering" has won the Peace Prize and the CBC Book of the Year Award(1994). It is about a young teenager, Nathaniel, who moves to Cheshunt. He feels that something is wrong with Cheshunt the moment he arrives. Soon he learns that his presence is no accident and he must battle to stop the Gathering and its creator.
14. Isobelle was born in 1958. After high school she completed a Bachelor of Arts and journalism cadetship. "Obernewtyn" was shortlisted for the 1988 CBC Australian Book of the Year Award.
Steve Taylor. Isobelle resides on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia.

Dreamwalker. This book isn't a novel but a picture-story book. I think it is illustrated magnificently by graphic artist, Steven Woolman.
Speaking from one mind to another, even to that of a beast. Some characters in Isobelle's books that know how to use telepathy or have discovered it within themselves somehow are: Elspeth, Matthew, Rushton, Dameon ("Obernewytyn" chronicles), Glynn, Solen, Ember ("Legendsong" saga), and Merlin ("Scatterlings").

Zadia. Yokan and Zadia found the statue, but only Zadia took Elspeth to it. Qwinn was another technoguild diver, and Garth is the technoguild- master.

3. Matthew was Ward in "Obernewtyn", "The Farseekers" and "Ashling".
Aras and Zarak were joint wards in "The Keeping Place", after Matthew got taken away.
Farseekers. Twyna is Lina's younger sister.

Silly pig. Enoch, the man who brought Elspeth to Obernewtyn, recommended she befriend Rushton as he might find her some farm work. He ended up saving her life at the end of the first book - after he scared her half to death by practically kidnapping her!
Mornirdragon. Some other terms in beastspeak include 'ElspthInnle' for Elspeth, 'funaga' for people, and 'barud' for home.
Kinraide. The orphans are usually moved around the different homes to prevent them from forming strong alliances.
Guanette birds. The birds are a rare and beautiful sight in the Land, most often seen at Guanette (obviously).
The Cutter. They went to Sador in "Ashling" to take part in the Sadorian Battlegames.
mute farseeker daughter of Henry Druid, twin sister of Erin. Gilaine, also the beloved of Daffyd, is believed to be enslaved upon the Island Of The Red Queen with Matthew.
Katlyn. Katlyn and her husband, Gruffyd, currently reside at Obernewtyn.
Dardelan. This came as a result of a rebellion.
