Bianca Velasquez. Bianca is the first real friend Fletcher has ever had apart from Downers and she is also his first love.
Melody. Melody cares for Fletcher from when he is eight years old, but in the end she turns her back on him to make him see that he must leave her for his own sake. He is heartbroken at the time but later realises the wisdom of her actions.
Drug overdose. Fletcher's mother Francesca never came to terms with being left behind on the space station and eventually took an overdose when she couldn't stand it any longer.
Jeremy. Jeremy seems and acts younger than Fletcher but still teaches him a lot about how the Crew must pull together to run the ship.
Mariner. Although the 'Junior Juniors' are all older than Fletcher by age, they have never been to a station on liberty before, and look and act like much younger children. Fletcher is more "streetwise" as he grew up on-station so he gets put in charge for the stopover.
Elene Quen. Elene Quen is StationMaster and Damon Konstantine is her husband and is head of the Station's Legal department.
James, Francie, Madison, and Alan. Later on in the story James Robert the 'Senior Senior' Captain decides to take things a bit easier - he is 149 years old! and so James Junior (JR) is promoted to 'Junior Junior' Captain to assist the other three.
Black circle on a blue background. The badge is a plain black circle to represent infinity and there is no writing because "Finity's End doesn't need to tell people who she is".
Austin Bowe. Austin Bowe is Tom's father, he is the Captain of the spaceship 'Corinthian'. Christian Perrault-Bowe is Tom's half brother.
Sprite. Sprite is the family ship where Tom is born and brought up until he is 23 years old.
Miller Transship Warehouse. Tom sticks his nose too deeply into Corinthian business with Miller Transship and gets kidnapped for his pains.
Tink. Tink is a massively built man, well over 6 feet tall, and covered in tattoos of snakes and dragons. He makes sugar flowers to decorate the cakes and pastries he makes for the crew.
200 credits. He gives him 200 credits of his own money and has already paid 10,000 credits to another ship to take Tom to Sol. Tom spots the trap and runs, and Christian loses all his money.
Bok's Equation. Bok's Equation is the equation needed to get the ship through a Hyperspace Jump. Capella is a navigator and also a 'Nightwalker' - she can stay awake through a jump in Hyperspace.
Green. They are all unpleasant but he hates the green most. The drinks are necessary to replace the minerals the body loses during a Hyperspace jump.
Bottle of Scotch. They send a bottle of Scotch as cover for a secret message.
Michael's. He takes Michael's suit and this lets him get further into the freighter's hold because people don't realise it's him inside.
Havoc. Once the code is inputted, the freighter's systems come online.
Beatrice. Beatrice Perrault is his mother. Saby Perrault, her niece, looked after Christian when he was a child as Beatrice is the Chief Pilot of Corinthian.
A leaf. The gardens are amazing to people who spend their whole lives in space and have never even seen a planet's surface. The rule is, if a leaf falls in your hand you can keep it and Tom catches one on his tour.
Love You. He says "Love You" which is odd in view of the fact that she has hated him for 23 years, and has plotted to get revenge on him all that time.
A wild haircut. He uses Christian's money to buy new clothes and gets a wild haircut with half his head shaved - this is the height of fashion! When he returns to Corinthian, Christian doesn't recognise him.
Patrick. The mysterious Patrick is known to Capella from her days with the Fleet. She admits he is a danger to the Corinthian but refuses to say more and begs Austin to trust her that Patrick must be avoided.
Mallory. Signy Mallory is the Captain of Norway, and she becomes one of the most hated and feared Captains of the Fleet, reviled as a traitor by some and almost worshipped by others.
Hisa. The Hisa worship their planet's Sun and are willing to go to work on the space station in exchange for being allowed to view the Sun from the viewports. The Sun is not as clearly visible from the planet's surface for most of the time due to the weather systems there.
Q. The sections of the station containing the refugees are sealed off to prevent the lawlessness and rioting spreading. The sealed section is referred to as 'Q' for Quarantine.
Many of the refugees are robbed, beaten, and even murdered by gangs of their fellows who organise themselves to run Q section for their own gain.
Alicia Konstantin. Alicia Konstantin is the Mother of Damon and Emilio. She is a paraplegic after an accident and is dependent on mechanical life support systems. The Downer Lily tends to her, and all the Downers love her. During the crisis the Downers gather in her quarters, and form a 'living shield' to keep her safe.
Conrad. Conrad Mazian is the overall leader of the Earth Company Fleet - he leads the attack on Union, and, when that fails, he leads the Fleet back to Pell then on to Sol Station and ultimately Earth herself.
Vasily Kressich. Kressich was a Councillor on his previous station, and he is used as a figurehead by the leader of the strongest gang in Q section, to be a go-between with Pell Station management.
