Jonathan Hobson. Major Hobson was a midwestern preacher who prayed at every available opportunity. It was when Hobson began moving his praying into the Mess tent that Blake had him shipped stateside to finish his tour. Hawkeye and Duke then began praying at Henry's cot so he would send them back, too.

He was sent back to his unit in a jeep with the tires shot out by Hawkeye and Duke (unlike the series, Hawkeye freely used a gun).

A human sacrifice. They had kidnapped Shaking Sammy and attempted to set him on fire with a Molotov Cocktail. Sammy wasn't hurt because the 'cocktail' wasn't real.
Pvt. Boone. Lorenzo Boone was a 19-year-old intern who led a sheltered life, though he tried hard. Sgt. Divine was the head Mess cook. Waldowski was the camp's dentist. Radar pretty much ran the camp behind Henry Blake.
Captain. For the movie, and eventually the series, Jonathan Hobson and Shaking Sammy were removed, but their characteristics were combined to create the Frank Burns we all know and loathe.
Duke. Burns was notorious for blaming a death on either God's will or someone else's fault. Pvt. Boone was the victim in this case. Before the month was out, Trapper would punch Burns out as well.

Robert the Bruce. Robert Ervin Howard was the only child of Isaac Mordecai and Hester Jane (Ervin) Howard. The Ervins were a Scottish Highland clan who dated back to the time of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Because his ancesters were granted favors by the Bruce, it became a tradition in the family that a male child in every generation be named Robert.
Howard Payne. Howard Payne University is located in Brownwood, TX, where Howard is buried. Howard's father studied medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans.
