Why didn't the covenant destroy Sigma Octanus when they had the chance? | Halo Super Quiz.
|
They wanted an artifact that told them where Halo 04 was located. When the covenant arrived at Sigma Octanus they wanted to find an artifact, kept at a museum, which would tell them where Halo 04 was located.
At the time before he was a captain, Commander Keyes was doing a routine scouting job when he detected 4 covenant ships heading towards the planet of Sigma Octanus. He miraciously destroyed all but one of the enemy's ships (the last one fled) but he soon learned that the main objective of those ships wasn't to burn the planet, but launch an invasion. The covenant had 34 dropships sent down to the planet to find this artifact, located in the city of Cote'd'Azur. Around 1600 marines were deployed to stop the invasion force. Unfortunately only 14 marines survived. Then the SPARTANS were sent in, and they slaughtered 10,000 covenant troops with a nuclear device.
When the covenant attacked REACH how many human vessels were there to repel the attack? | Halo Super Quiz.
|
152. When the covenant attacked REACH there were 152 human ships waiting there. However, the covenant had 314 ships. The SPARTANS were on board the Pillar Of Autumn when the attack began. The covenant had launched hundreds of dropships just like on Sigma Octanus, and the SPARTANS were sent down to defend the planet. Unfortunately they were outnumbered by tens of thousands of covenant troops and only one SPARTAN made it out alive. This SPARTAN was the Master Chief.

Zuku Zamamee. Throughout the book we see the tale of the Spec Ops leader, Zuka Zamamee, as he continues to hunt the Master Chief along with his reluctant servant Yayap the grunt. He attempts to kill the Master Chief 3 times.
The first time is while the Chief is searching for the Silent Cartographer. He lies in ambush while two hunters attempt to kill him. This first attempt fails when a grunt accidentally shoots one of hunters in the back, causing it to stumble into its partner, which causes them both to go down.
The second time is during a battle at the human's base, in which he learns that the human he is looking for (the Master Chief) is not even there. Therefore he goes into hiding as a guard at the Pillar Of Autumn, for fear of having his head taken for failing to find and kill the Master Chief.
The last attempt he makes is on the Pillar Of Autumn while the Master Chief is trying to get off Halo before it blows. But, after all his troubles he is killed by a simple grenade thrown by the Master Chief.

However, the human leader was blinded by glory and instead of completely destroying the flood on the ship before they flew back to earth, he wanted a few specimens for study. Although his advisors told him that one flood specimen escaping could lead to the entire planet falling under the control of the flood, he stubburnly refused to listen.
