Agamemnon. Agamemnon was the son of Atreus, and Atreides literally means "son of Atreus." Atreides was the official house of Agamemnon until his murder by his unfaithful wife, Clytemnestra. The house was continued by his children, and remained through Old Terra all the way to the events of Dune.

An Atreides daughter would pair with a Harkonnen heir. Jessica was commanded to bear only daughters to the Atreides. Then, one of these daughters would then be wed to a Harkonnen male, presumably Feyd-Rautha, and their progeny would be the Kwisatz Haderach. Because of her love for the Duke, Jessica violated her orders and bore a son.

Excretion from a drowned sandworm. The Fremen have specific basins filled with water where they can drown worms to create the Water. It is essentially still the spice, but in a highly concentrated and liquid form.
pre-spice mass. A spice blow is the final step in spice cycle. After the sandtrout excretions reach sufficient volume they form a pre-spice mass, which when combined with water, will 'blow.' This is then cooked by the sun and melange is created.
