Morning Glory. Morning Glory was the first one of MS. Spencers books I read. It is a great book for anyone who likes to root for the underdog and still dreams that happiness can be achieved no matter what.

Dan. All the other names are main male characters in her books. Dan and LaVryle have been married 37 years. Wonder what their secret is??
Hummingbird. The Humming bird was her first full length novel but she had published two short stories which where later rereleased in the book entitled A Heart Speaks.
Small Town Girl. The book was based on a contry music starwho returned to her home town. Reba McEntire flew LaVryle and Dan to Nashville so they could see the in's and out's of the business.
Bright Hopes. I tired to name all her books in this quiz but I didn't mention---The Fulfillment or the Gamble.
Whitney, Georgia. 'The train pulled into Whitney, Georgia, on a leaden afternoon in November' was the quote from the book.
August 1941. When Chapter One starts at the top of the page it states "August 1941".
Harley Overmire. Harley Overmire was the foreman at the mill who ended up firing Will.
the time board at the mill. The book said, 'Will's eyes backtracked and read the whole ad, the same one tacked up on the time board at the mill'.
Husband. "WANTED-A HUSBAND. Need healthy man of any age willing to work a spread and share the place. See E. Dinsmore, top of Rock Creek Road."
Mathilde King. Albert See was found in bed with a prostitue named Mathilde King. The interesting thing about this was that he was a preacher that ministered on the circuit. He was on the circuit when he died. Lottie See was his wife, Gladys Beasley is the town librarian,and Lula Peak was a waitress at the town cafe.
Yes. When Will first came to the farm they agreed that he would just work as a handy man until when and if they ever decided to get married. Over the course of time they fell in love and later married in Calhoun, Georgia.
The murder of Lula Peak. He was put in jail and went to trial for Lula's murder. He was later found not guilty. Harley Overmire had killed her because he was afraid she would tell his wife and children of their affair and her pregnancy with his child.
Wintergreen, Missouri. Tess left Wintergreen, Missouri where she was born and raised. After her high school graduation she headed for Nashville, Tennessee and this is her current residence. Ripley is the county in which Wintergreen lies and Poplar Bluff was where the hospital that her mother stayed in was located.
Tarnished Gold. She was listening to her song "Tarnished Gold" when she arrived in town and was upset with one of the notes and wanted her producer to rerecord it while she was away. "Old Souls" was the song Casey sang with the back - up singers to determine if she could blend well enough to go on tour. "Small Town Girl" was the song she and Casey wrote and "Cattin" was Tess' just released radio single.
country singer. Tess, also known to her fans as Mac, was a hugely successful country music singer. Her sister Judy was a hairdresser and owned her own shop. Kenny had his own business as an accountant and Faith owned a dress shop.

Kenny Kronek. Kenny was the boy next door all of Tess' growing up years. She thought of him as a friend when she was a child, a nerd in high school , disliked him when she first returned to Wintergreen for weaseling his way into her family and the love of her life at the end of the book. John Walpole was the man who gave Tess her big break in the country music business. Burt Sheer was a man from a band called Southern Smoke who Tess dated a few times. Jack Greaves was Tess' record producer.
Casey. Casey was Kenny Kronek's daughter. Tess found out that she had a great voice and a real talent as a songwriter so she let Casey co-write a song with her, that was later entitled "Small Town Girl". Casey later did back up vocals for their song and went on tour with Tess. Faith was the women that Kenny dated for eight years. Rachel was Tess' niece and Carla was Tess' original back up singer who got sick.
at the hospital. Tess met Casey at the hospital, when Casey had come up to the hospital to check on Tess' mother, Mary, after her hip surgery.
6 pm. When Tess arrived she asked for fruit and then Mary asked her if she wanted dinner and Tess replied, "The peaches are fine for now, Momma. I know you don't eat till six."
in Kenny's car during the rain. Kenny tried to kiss Tess in high school but she thought he was a nerd and refused. After their ride they felt the tension but resisted the kiss. They did kiss in the back yard after her niece's wedding but it wasn't the first kiss. The first kiss was when Kenny brought Tess home from their horse back ride on Sunday. It was raining and Tess could not resist the tension any longer and leaned over and kissed him and promptly ran off.
June. Casey came to Nashville in June to record back up vocals to the song she co-wrote with Tess. She had to wait until June because she had to graduate high school first.
double- scale. Tess told Casy that her studio musicians were double- scale. She went on to explain that they only hire the best and each one of her studio musicians earn twice as much as regular studio musicians because they have more experience.
Mary and Kenny. Tess had asked Kenny to come to her concert in Anaheim and bring her mother. She was uncertain whether her mother would come because her mother kept putting off answering the offer. The night of the concert her road manager Ross Hardenberg said, "Somebody special to see you, Mac." When they came into the dressing room it was her Momma and Kenny.
her nails. Tess said that her number one trademark was her long nails. There was mention several times in the book about her nails and how she used them to entice her audience. At the wedding reception her nails were plum and at the Anaheim concert her nails were copper.
