Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Air Force One
12. "I'm 12 years old, Dad! In the Caveman Days, I'd be having children of my own!"
Gary Oldman. It says it in the credits.
1. This one is sort of a brain-teaser. There was one guy from the rescue plane that was on Air Force One, but he was shot and killed by Gibbs.
General. The terrorists were some of Radek's supporters.
Some Night-Op's. This is VERY obvious (Night vision goggles, black suits, suppressed weapons, and parachuting).
In the Conference Room. This was where several of the hostages were killed. Melanie was killed in the Cockpit.
Glenn Close. "Connect me with Vice President Bennett."
Gibbs. He had a pistol with a silencer in his pants.
Green and Yellow. "Im countin' on ya, red, white, and blue!"
9752B. This is a tricky one. Watch this part in slow-motion.
Postmaster General. "If this works, you'll be Postmaster General."
6. If you see a trailer, it will say "Six Terrorists".
H&K MP5-K. You have to know your weapons and the terrorists for the correct answer to this question.
Korshunov. It says it on the laptop screen when he puts his thumb on it before he gets on the plane.
Marshall. It is said a couple of times throughout the movie.
Dean Stockwell. Dean Stockwell has appeared in TV and in movies since the 1940s with over 100 credits to his name. Still a very busy actor, he is one of the few child actors who has succeeded lifelong in films.
Radek. General Radek, an ousted political leader, was caught by Special Forces, and ended up in prison. Does the prison look familiar? The prison scenes were filmed at the Mansfield Penitentiary, the same prison used in "The Shawshank Redemption".
Grace. Wendy Crewson played the First Lady as a very strong, independent woman. She was very supportive of her husband and encouraged him to stick to his principles. Wendy also played the mother in the Tim Allen comedies "The Santa Clause" and "The Santa Clause 2".
A rescue plane was dispatched to aid Air Force One and subsequently changed call signs, once the president was saved. What was the plane's original call sign? | "Air Force One" is No. 1
|
Liberty 24. The final scenes showed how a cable was extended from an MC-130 (Liberty 24) to Air Force One. The President, along with the others, were shown sliding along the cable to safety. All this was acutally done by computer animation.
National Security Advisor Jack Doherty. The Vice-President was informed that a hostage would be killed every thirty minutes until General Radek was released. Jack Doherty introduced himself to the head terrorist as the one man who could get their demands met. He was shot in front of the other hostages by the terrorist, while the terrorist spoke on the phone with the Vice-President. The terrorist described him as being "a very good negotiator, he just bought you another thirty minues".
During the president's visit to Moscow he made a speech describing how the U.S. had stood by and done nothing while people were killed by terrorists. Not until U.S. interests were threatened did the U.S. finally react. Altering his planned speech, he invoked a new U.S. foreign policy. What was it? | "Air Force One" is No. 1
|
We will not negotiate.. The President's speech called for a "zero-tolerance" policy on terrorism. But on the return flight home, terrorists took over Air Force One and took the passengers hostage. They threatened to execute one hostage every half-hour until their demands were met. It was an easy policy to declare, but not an easy one to enforce, as this movie showed.
Gary Oldman. This character played by Gary Oldman was a very ruthless individual. He let us know that he fought during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and was very loyal to Mother Russia. He desperately wanted to see Russia reunited to it's original Cold War supremacy. Gary Oldman was born March of 1958 in New Cross, London, England. He has played Sirius Black in some of the "Harry Potter" movies.
James Marshall. This president was described as an experienced soldier, and a medal of honor winner. There were two actual US Presidents who shared initials with this character, James Madison and James Monroe. There were three others with the first name James.
Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford is well known for his role of Han Solo in the "Star Wars" trilogy, which he did not originally want to play. He's also known for playing Dr. Indiana Jones in another trilogy of Steven Spielberg films, "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", and "The Last Crusade". He was born July 13th, in Chicago. He almost quit acting, settling for a career in carpentry. His first big acting break came with the part of Bob Falfa in "American Graffiti".

Tom Everett. Everett, born on October 21st, 1948, in Oregon, portrayed National Security Advisor Jack Doherty. Doherty managed to survive the terrorists' first attack on Air Force one and went to the conference room. Korshunov made the announcement to both Vice President Bennett and those in the conference room that, for every half hour Radek stayed in prison, a hostage would be executed. When the first half hour expired, Doherty stood up and told Korshunov that he could help him get what he wanted and to not speak to the Vice President about it since she was more like the Queen of England. When Korshunov called Bennett and asked her if Radek had been released, she told him she phoned Petrov and he refused to release Radek. She told Korshunov that she needed more time. That was when Korshunov shot Doherty in the head. Everett had guest starring stints on the TV series', "The West Wing", "Monk" and "Murder, She Wrote".
I helped President Marshall fly the plane after he got it out of the terrorists' control but, unfortunately, I did not make it out alive. Who am I? | Who Played Me in "Air Force One"?

William H. Macy. Macy, born in 1950 in Miami, Florida, was cast in the role of Major Caldwell. Caldwell was on board the plane when it was hijacked and went to the conference room with the rest of the hostages. We saw Caldwell sigh and cry when he found out that Melanie, the Deputy Press Secretary, had been murdered. When Marshall overtook some terrorists and made his way to the conference room, Caldwell told him there was a way to get the hostages off the plane. He said that, if he could get a fax out to have the plane drop to a certain altitude while it refueled in mid-air, they could open up the back part of the plane and the hostages could jump off the plane with parachutes. With the help of a woman, Marshall got a fax out and the plane dropped to that altitude. Caldwell opened up the plane's back side and the hostages started to jump off. They all made it off when someone shot the door open and Marshall nearly flew off. Caldwell told one of the terrorists to let him save Marshall since he was the president. Caldwell, Marshall, and a couple of others were escorted to the cockpit and tied up. Marshall freed himself and everyone else who was there. He told Major Caldwell to help him fly the plane. When a nearby plane came to help rescue the rest of the passengers, a Secret Service agent (he posed as one and was really in league with the terrorists) shot Caldwell dead. Macy was seen in the films, "Seabiscuit", "Jurassic Park 3" and "Bobby".
I was the Deputy Press Secretary who showed a couple of men around the plane. I had no clue that these men would take control of it and kill many people in the process! Who am I? | Who Played Me in "Air Force One"?

Donna Bullock. Bullock, born on December 11th, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, played Deputy Press Secretary Melanie Mitchel. Melanie, unbeknownst to her, showed the terrorists around the plane. After they took control of Air Force One, she went to the conference room with the rest of the passengers. At one point, she was told to go to the cockpit where Korshunov was, with several of his friends and Grace and Alice Marshall. Korshunov put a gun to Melanie's head and told the person near the bottom of the plane, who had killed many of his men, to surrender or Melanie would die once he counted to ten. While Korshunov counted down to ten, Grace begged him not to kill her and to let her talk to the person who was down there (it was really President Marshall). Korshunov made it to ten and shot Melanie dead. Bullock guest starred on the TV series', "JAG", "Six Feet Under" and "Frasier".
My character was the lead terrorist on the Air Force One plane. I got my wish when Radek was released but my nightmare came true when I did not make it out alive. Who am I? | Who Played Me in "Air Force One"?

Gary Oldman. Oldman, a native of London, England, took on the part of Ivan Korshunov. Korshunov used fake identification, along with his fellow terrorists, to get on board Air Force One. He told his friends to wait for his call before they could take over the plane. They eventually took over and Korshunov had two of his friends fly the plane. He had the passengers stay in the conference room. When he brought Grace and Alice Marshall to the cockpit, he told Alice that he was also a father and had little children, in order to get her sympathy. Alice spat in his face and this angered him. Korshunov threatened to kill Alice if President Marshall did not have Radek released. He told Marshall he would count to five and, when he got to two, Marshall agreed. Marshall managed to release himself and he went after Korshunov, who took the First Lady hostage, and almost made it off the plane. During a struggle, Marshall overpowered Korshunov and wrapped a parachute around his neck. He told Korshunov, "Get off my plane!" and pulled the cord to inflate the parachute. His neck broke and his dead body flew off the plane. Oldman was seen in the movies, "Immortal Beloved", "JFK" and "Dead Fish".
I was the first in line to the presidency and almost got that position since Marshall nearly died. However, I was very happy that he made it out alive. I spoke with Korshunov many times over the phone. Who am I? | Who Played Me in "Air Force One"?

Glenn Close. Veteran actress Glenn Close was cast as Vice President Katherine Bennett. We first saw Close as Bennett when she got off a helicopter and was escorted into The White House right after she found out terrorists hijacked Air Force One. Bennett consulted with members of the Presidential Cabinet and other advisors as to what to do with this situation. She got on the phone with Korshunov and asked him what he wanted. He told her he wanted Radek released from prison. Bennett said that she would do what she could, but she needed as much time as possible. Korshunov told her that, for every half hour that Radek remained in prison, he would kill a hostage. Bennett tried to convince Petrov to release Radek but he refused. Bennett decided that she was going to issue a statement about how Air Force One had been hijacked and asked all Americans to pray for the safety of everyone on board the plane. At one point in the movie, a member of the Cabinet told Bennett that she could override the president's request to not have Radek released. All she had to do was sign a statement, along with everyone else necessary to override his order (and those people signed the statement). Bennett refused and, once she found out that the First Family had been saved, she tore up that paper. Close was cast in many other movies like, "Fatal Attraction", "Mars Attacks!" and "Mary Reilly".
As Commander-in-Chief of the United States, I refused to leave Air Force One without my family and helped get it back into my hands and out of the terrorists' control. Who am I? | Who Played Me in "Air Force One"?

Harrison Ford. Ford, born on July 13th, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, was cast in the role of President James Marshall. Marshall made it to Air Force One and planned on enjoying a flight back to Washington, D.C. until terrorists hijacked the plane. Secret Service agents took him down to the bottom part of the plane but Marshall insisted that he would not leave without his family. The agents got him into an escape hatch and it fled off the plane. When they found the escape hatch, Marshall was not in it and we saw that he was on the plane. Marshall stayed for a while down at the bottom part of Air Force One and killed some terrorists down there. He managed to get to the conference room and found a way to get the hostages released from the plane through the back end of the plane. He lead the hostages to that part and all of them got off the plane. However, the terrorists shot open a door, in which Marshall almost flew off the plane without a parachute. He was saved by Major Caldwell and taken to the cockpit. He told Korshunov that he would call Petrov and have Radek released so Korshunov would not shoot his daughter. Marshall fought with Korshunov and killed him when he wrapped his parachute around his neck and pulled on the cord to inflate it. He took control of the plane and had Major Caldwell help him fly it. He found out that he could not land the plane but he heard about the plane that was nearby that would rescue him and the remaining passengers on board. Marshall made it out alive. Ford had lead parts in the movies, "Blade Runner", "What Lies Beneath" and "The Devil's Own". He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film, "Witness".
I was cast as the First Lady who almost died but was saved by my husband. I was the second one to be rescued by another aircraft right before Air Force One hit the waters. Who am I? | Who Played Me in "Air Force One"?

Wendy Crewson. Crewson, born in 1956 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, portrayed First Lady Grace Marshall. Marshall met up with her husband, the President, on Air Force One but was separated from him when Secret Service agents lead him to the bottom part of the plane to escape. Marshall went to the conference room with the rest of the hostages and told Korshunov that, no matter what he wanted, he would not get it. Korshunov put a gun to her head but did not pull the trigger. Korshunov came and got Grace and her daughter, Alice, to come up to the cockpit with him. When President Marshall was captured, he freed himself and killed all of the terrorists in the cockpit area except for Korshunov, who took Grace hostage. Marshall chased Korshunov and Grace to the bottom part of the plane and, with Grace's help, he killed Korshunov. Near the end of the movie, the President notified his officials that his wings were going out and that he was losing fuel. When a plane notified The White House that they were right near Air Force One, the Vice President ordered that they rescue the remaining passengers on board the plane. Alice was the first one rescued and then Grace was the second. Crewson had roles in the films, "The Santa Clause", "Bicentennial Man" and "The 6th Day".
