Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Chamber of Secrets .
If you're patient and stay through the credits, you learn a little more about one of the characters. Which one? | "Chamber of Secrets" 101
|
Gilderoy Lockhart. I won't add any info in case you haven't seen that part. The credits are long, but it's worth waiting till the end. Very cute!
Lucius Malfoy. Mr. Malfoy slips the book into Ginny Weasley's cauldron when the two families run into each other at Diagon Alley. Ginny corresponds with Tom Riddle for awhile, becomes afraid, and drops it into the toilet... right through Moaning Myrtle's head.
Fawkes. A phoenix is a mythical bird that bursts into flames when it dies, then arises reborn from its ashes. Fawkes is a huge help to Harry in the Chamber. (By the way, it is one of Fawkes' feathers that is lodged within Harry's wand... Tom Riddle had one, too.)
Harry Potter. He keeps being found in the wrong place at the wrong time. And they learn he can speak Parseltongue (snake language).
She looked the Basilisk in the eye.. Myrtle was hiding in the bathroom because she was being teased. Tom Riddle had opened up the Chamber and released the Basilisk. That particular bathroom was the location of the entrance to the chamber. (Oddly enough, Hermione had a similar experience in the first book -- she's hiding in a bathroom, crying, and a troll enters and nearly kills her. I think Myrtle would have been happy for the company!)
The boys are late getting to Hogwarts since they missed the train. Who is the first person they run into once they arrive? | "Chamber of Secrets" 101
|
Filch. They run into Filch (with Mrs. Norris) who sends them to Professor Snape. This differs from the book (they run into Snape first in the book). Peeves isn't in the movie.
The Burrow. The Burrow is the name of the Weasley's home. The film did an excellent job of creating that set -- what a fun place to visit! Harry is thrilled. It's the first time he has ever been in a wizard home.
Dobby has intercepted his mail.. The book reveals more clearly how distressed Harry feels about this. He feels completely cut off from his wizard life and thinks his friends have forgotten him.
A copy of Gilderoy Lockhart's new book "Who Am I?" on display in Diagon Alley.. I usually don't stay the end of the credits, but I read online at zap2it.com that there was "a treat at the end of the credits", so I stayed. Hope you caught the treat! Hope you enjoyed "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and my quiz!
Ginny Weasley. Ginny Weasley opened the Chamber of Secrets under Tom Riddle's possession. Harry Potter thought that Hagrid opened Chamber of Secrets fifty years ago. Tom Riddle originally opened the Chamber of Secrets when he attended Hogwarts many years ago.
He stabbed Tom Riddle's diary with the Basilisk fang.. Harry Potter's wound from the Basilisk bite was healed by Fawke's tears.
Tom Riddle. Harry Potter and Tom Riddle both can speak Parseltongue, are determined, smart and have a disregard for school rules. What sets Harry Potter apart from Tom Riddle is the choices that he makes. As Dumbledore said, "It is not the abilities that shows our character, it's the choices we make."
Dobby. Harry's arm broke, but Professor Lockhart casted a spell that removed all of Harry's bones, and had to be regrown with Skele-Gro. Dobby also prevented Harry and Ron from entering platform 9 3/4, and withheld his friends' letters from Harry, and caused a cake to fall on Mrs. Mason, all to try to stop Harry from returning to Hogwarts. Harry gets Dobby to promise never to try to save his life again.
the Bloody Baron. The Bloody Baron was not even in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". The ghost that was petrified was Nearly Headless Nick. Justin Finch-Fletchley was also petrified.
Ron Weasley. When Ron and Harry follow the spiders into the Forbidden Forest, he keeps asking Harry if he can leave.
Kenneth Branagh. Kenneth Branagh did a great job portraying the stuck-up fraud Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.
Harry Potter. Harry Potter is in his bedroom looking at his album and then consoling Hedwig and thinking that none of his friends wrote to him over the summer.
persuasive. He says he 'persuaded' Ginny to harm people.
Who am I? . After the credits.
Slytherin. A Ravenclaw prefect was petrified. Her name was Penelope Clearwater and she is Percy's girlfriend. Colin Creevey, Hermione Granger and Nearly Headless Nick were petrified in Gryffindor. Justin Flinch was petrified in Hufflepuff.
Yellow. A Basilisk's eyes are yellow. Although few live to tell that tale.
Mouth. Tom Riddle speaks Parseltoungue and the mouth of the statue opens.
Salazar Slytherin. The Basilisk lives inside the statue.
Aragog. The name of the spider is Aragog.
Salazar Slytherin . Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin didn't get along and Salazar left the school. But before that Slytherin built a hidden chamber under the school which we now know as "The Chamber of Secrets."
The basins and taps.. One of the taps has a small snake on it. That is the lever to open the entrance.
A Parselmouth. The language for snake speak is Parseltoungue.
Tom Marvolo Riddle. Tom Riddle framed Hagrid for opening The Chamber of Secrets and then got him expelled. Tom would become Lord Voldemort years later.
red. It was red with a yellow marking. It ripped itself up when it had finished screaming.
