Hedwig and the Angry Inch
John Cameron Mitchell. He also played Hedwig in the original off-Broadway production.
A bar. The band is called "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," they sing a song called "Angry Inch," and Hedwig says her body has an "Angry Inch."
Gummy Bears. Hansel (Hedwig as a boy) decides that he doesn't like the Gummy Bears, but comes back for more candy...and for Luther.
Hedwig Schmidt Robinson. Hedwig Schmidt was taken from her mother and Robinson was added after marrying Sgt. Luther.
MTV. Having Tommy perform on MTV brings a level of reality to the film, since in lower-budget films, they would normally use a fake TV station's name.
Wicked Little Town. "Wicked Little Town" was composed once Hedwig moved away from Germany. "Origin of Love" was written later in her career. "The Long Grift" was written by Tommy Gnosis and "Freaks" is music we hear in the film through a radio, not performed by Hedwig.
East Berlin, Germany. 'I was born on the other side of a town ripped in two!' - Hedwig sings in "Tear Me Down," referring to Berlin.
Menses Fair. Hedwig plays Menses fair on the 9th Stage, over by the Port-a-Potties. She has one audience member.
John Cameron Mitchell. John Cameron Mitchell adapted it from his stage play, which he also directed. Stephen Trask composed the score, Miriam Shor plays Hedwig's backup singer and John Waters (director) has nothing to do with the film.
Stephen Trask. He also appeared in the film as a band member. Mitchell was the writer/director, Bach is a singer/actor, and Sondheim wrote the music for famous Broadway hits such as "West Side Story" and "Company".
Farrah Fawcett . 'Suddenly I'm Ms. Farrah Fawcett from TV.' - Hedwig sings in "Wig in a Box".
Plato's Symposium. Plato's "Symposium" is about the origin of man, woman, and hermaphrodite, explaining the Greek creation myth.
Miriam Shor. She played him in the stage production as well, which makes sense, since Hedwig is played by a man.
New York City . It was housed in a small theatre in the meat-packing district of New York.
East Germany. This is revealed many times, including within a few songs. He was born the same year as the erection of the Berlin Wall, and lived in East Berlin.
Schlatko. Skzsp was a guitarist and backup vocalist, Yitzhak was a backup vocalist and occasional guitarist, Krzysztof was also a guitarist.
Croatia. This is seen very briefly in the scene "I'm Going To Guam", when Hedwig holds up Yitzhak's passport. The Croatian coat of arms on the passport is clearly seen, along with the word "putovnica" (Croatian as a word for passport). In the deleted scene (only on the DVD!), it has a whole "Croatia 1997" scene where Yitzhak meets Hedwig, and a scene of Yitzhak running around and counting quietly in Croatian.
Andrea Martin. Miriam Shor played Yitzhak.
M . Contrary to popular belief, Yitzhak was always a man. He was a Croatian ex-drag queen, but he WAS played by a woman (Miriam Shor).
Blonde. Of course! Just about every one of Hedwig's wigs in the movie were blonde.
Sgt. Luther Robinson. Luther left him in America. It's not certain whether Yitzhak and Hedwig were married or not.
Bilgewater. All they have to give is a 24-hour notice to any Bilgewater's restaurant and they can play there. Also the restaurants, in the movie, are all really one restaurant just decorated differently each time.

Hedwig and the Angry Itch. This you can almost barely hear in the scene where the band members are playing spin the bottle.
3. "And there were three sexes then,
One that looked like two men
Glued up back to back,
Called the children of the sun.
And similar in shape and girth
Were the children of the earth.
They looked like two girls
Rolled up in one.
And the children of the moon
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
They were part sun, part earth
Part daughter, part son."
The song 'Origin of Love' has a cartoon playing along with it. In one frame there is a man writing something on a wall under an eye. What did he write?
